Ford to sell AM?

Looks like Ford are reviewing their options and could be that P A G ( Premier Automotive Group which consists of A M, Jaguar, Volvo and Land Rover )could go under the hammer. Jaguar sales are down 36% over the last year and after pumping $2 billion to cover loses Ford have had enough.PAG also suffered a $162 million deficit in the last quarter,

All this from this mornings Telegraph, depressing figures indeed. The article also hints that Nickolia Smolensky ( TVR) is touted as a potential buyer ( of the Jaguar brand ).

Yep and then it will all end up like TVR down the pan....keep the Russian away

I think Nic is already pouring enough money down the drain at TVR, I dont think Dad would let him splurge even more of the family cash on 2 "classic" loss making British sportscar marques! Running Jag requires Uber big pockets, the Smolenskis only have very big pockets!

Thought Jaguar were the only part of PAG not making a profit, so thought they'd be the only one to go.

But what did they expect when all they've given us is a rebodied X-Type, an ugly mid-range S-Type. The XJ is great but looks like it was styled 40 years ago. The XK is great but looks like a (poor) copy of a DB9.

BUT, Ford can get it right. Look at how well AM are doing. Pity they screwed up at Jaguar.

As on another post, I had the deep misfortune to drive an S type recently. They really are having a laugh... great in a straight line, but the car doesn't turn in at all. I almost left the road on a corner travelling no faster than I would in a Defender!

Wasn't Aston Martin the only part of Ford which made a profit last year? Bit odd to sell them if that's the case.
