AMV8 Questions
Discussion
About to sell my Carrera 4S Cab and purchase a Vantage - but before I do I have a couple of questions:
1. Why do the dealers seem to have quite a few cancelled orders - I have found about 10 perfectly acceptable cars available now or within a month - is there something I don't know - why are people cancelling?
2. Is the fuel consumption really that bad? 16.4mpg?? My average over the last 5,000 miles in the 911 is 23mpg which I think is pretty good...
Cheers
Richard

1) There were many many speculators of the AMV8 and the general consensus (I think) is that many of these cars are probably bailed speculators who felt they could get large premiums and could not. Some people also expected more performance and it's possible some customers bailed or this reason too. Others on here may have differing opinions... these are mine.
SOME people did have some quality issues with the very first cars and it's also possible that that may have put some people off. However there are many on here who have had early cars with no problems at all so be carefuol who you speak to to get a balanced view.
2) Some of the owners will let you know but I think the AMV8 is a thirsty car (mainly as you keep your right foot floored to hear that gorgeous exhaust note)!!! Many have come from 911's and as I remember state that economy is better in the Porsche!
Cancelled orders??
Well the care was delayed and delayed again, it was more expensive than expected, performance maybe less, and reviews generally good but a few odd ones.
Some people bailed way before delivery some attempted speculating or simply circumstances changed over the order lifecycle...
Here is my view on the car though..
It's brilliant, it handles well, has great grip, you have to work it to get great performance but its there... It isnt going to beat supercars in a straight line, but it will give you a grin while you play.
But I think it suprised a few people along the way.
And the noise !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Myself and Shady took ours to Le Mans and they didnt put a foot wrong.
Yes they are thirsty... my average mpg is around 11mpg..... I do have a leaden right foot though.

RICH:
just a matter of interest what did you get for yours come re-sale? assuming your 997TT is in?
I have now placed an order for a 997GT3, but am still tempted by a second hand AMV8 for the 8-9 months before this comes.
Pork looses about 15% in a year, I can't see the Aston performing any better, so an £88k car will worth about 74-75k in the trade one year later (at best) with a dealer selling for 79k.
Official dealers are still over egging the second hand prices, so year old cars are up for about £85k, but they aren't selling & the prices are slowly dropping. Clearly this is because people are thinking.... why pay 85k for year old car when new ones are about for 2-3k more!
That is why I interested to know what you traded your car for, unless you sold it privately?

Thanks Rich.
I am tempted by the AMV8, but want to get the right "deal" if I'm only keeping it a few months.
I really want the GT3 earlier, but fat chance of that!!
