I'm booked in to test drive a V8 next week as a possible replacement for my XKR. Just wondering how others find the V8 to use on a day to day basis. My current stock is the Jag and a Sagaris, which are like chalk and cheese but my sense is that the AM drops right between, being manual and more of a sports, albeit a bit more comfortable than the TVR.

I couldn't drive the Sag every day to work, it's a great car but the fun factor goes a bit in traffic. The Jag on the other hand is ballistic when the roads are clear but effortless in the jams.

Question is, with the V8 will I be getting a verstile replacement for the XK or do I end up with two similar cars, and nothing to get to work in ?

I drive mine into the city everyday now with a smile on my face. Not always driven home with a smile though.

I had a similar situation, but with and XJR, in the end took delivery of the AMV8 and put the jag onto a limited miles agreed value policy which cost £420. It's bought me time to make the decision and I have the Jag as a backup.

The AMV8 is certainly more effort to drive than my auto jag, but pedals along lazyiliy enough as a daily runner and is brisk when you want it. Good luck.

Not sure I'd like the AMV8 as a daily drive. Probably a personal thing, as I know of many (from here) that use it as such. To me it's much more of a 'feel good' car - when you want to drive, or go somewhere nice.

Don't get me wrong, it's fairly parctical, and also seems reliable... it does however attract a LOT off attention wherever it goes, and is not something I'd leave in the Tesco car park (without a few glances back).

And it cost so much less than the 911 turbo, which everyone walked past without a second glance!

I'm getting used to attention with the Sagaris. Constantly get snapped by people with camera phones. But luckily I don't have to leave the car in public places so saves on being nervous.

More interested in whether you can still relax and ride in comfort on occasions, rather than the permanent full-on experience you get in the TVR.

Had mine for six months now use it as everyday car and yes you can relax and cruise or go for it depending on you mood. I don't worry about where I park it - people seem to love it from old ladies to hoodies and I genuinely don't think anyone would harm it. Never owned a car that was so universally appreciated before.

I drive mine everyday in Central London and despite the heavy clutch, I love it. And I leave it in the Tesco car park at weekends, usually returning to see someone looking at the car. I've never had it damaged, unlike my previous Porsches, each one of which was vandalised in some way.

I drive mine everyday, I don't have to but when I get to the garage it's always the car I choose. Why would I get in something else if I can get into an Aston Martin?

Bund, my car park is at More London, Tooley Street, and it's *very* small!

Raz, It sounds like you have a very discrete carpark!

I park in a commoners cp.
