Spent a great afternoon at Millbrook Proving Ground on Friday afternoon courtesy of Aston Martin dealer, HWM. We were provided with 5 or 6 Vantage V8s to test on the various facilities there and a couple of Range Rover Sports to play with on the "off-road" circuit, which was an eye-opener! I managed 140 on the 1 x mile straight and the acceleration was strong, even if not quite as neck-breaking quick as my Griff On one run I braked from 100 to 0 and judging by the cones the stopping distance looked like about 50 yards which I was impressed with. I drove hands free at 100 on the 2 mile bowl and then took it up to 130 and it was perfectly stable but what amazed me most was the handling on the Alpine course. The instructor did one lap and then I was allowed 3 or 4 laps myself. Realising I hadn't approached the limits of the car I asked the chap if would do one fast demonstration lap for me and wow, what a lap. The lateral grip is astonishing. For those of you who don't know Millbrook this course dips and turns left and right like a series of alpine roads, we were doing 100+ with ease on 100 yard straights and braking down hard into 90 degree left/rights with ease cresting brows of hills and throttling down the other side - truly amazing! Ands thanks to Brian and Paul at HWM. Rich...

No... I wasn't going to trash £80k of someone else's car but the young instructor certainly had it airborne!
