I remember reading somewhere a couple of years ago about a guy who specialised in used Aston Martin parts. He was also a breaker of ageing and rotten Astons, mainly V8s but some older stuff too if truly beyond rescue. Does anyone know where I might find him?

The reason I ask is that I'm after some microswitches for the Piper electric windows in my Bristol, and I've recently learned that the window mechanism is shared with some Astons. I already knew that it is also shared with some Bentleys, but that route has drawn a blank so far. I am trying to avoid having the whole mechanism rebuilt to accept different microswitches, but I fear it is becoming inevitable. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the switches are handed for left and right doors!

Puddleduck are very good. I use them all the time. Apart from the windows, how's the Bristol and Tatra, Tog?

Bristol runnning beautifully, the window is only gripe. The microswitch has been held together with cable ties and araldite for a while now, but finally the peculiar sixties alloy that the body of the switch is made from has completely crumbled (the bits that aren't held together with araldite at any rate) and replacements are hard to find. Tatra hasn't been out for a while now unfortunately. Currently no MoT due to annoying brake light fault, but hope to get it all sorted, serviced, cambelts changed and (with luck) sold this summer. Lovely car, but I don't really have the space, time or money to run four cars. The SC I've now had over a year, and have put almost 25,000 miles on it, which I would guess is comfortably more than all the other UK Bitters put together.

Hope to get both the Bristol and the Tatra to the Classic and Sports Car action day at Castle Combe in June if anyone's going to be there. It's a good day out - the Bristol OC won the club stand award last year.

Is the DBS still sweet?
