I am a massive fan of Aston's but I am worried the new AMV8 is going to spoil the name Aston Martin as so many are going to be about.

I think everyone should take the time to think about the beautiful cars Aston's have made in the past.

Also has anyone heard anything about the Bulldog? Not been around for years, who owns it?

3000 cars a year still doesn't mean they're going to be on every street corner.

Hmmm, the Bulldog. Now there's a wacky looking Aston

You have a good point, but i have already seen about 5 in southend-on-sea, I saw two DB9's on the way to work the otherday.

The most beautiful car Aston have made is the DB7, if you were to ask me. They are not without their faults but the looks alone are enough for me.

echo that, there is still something about the DB7 that still makes grown men weak at the knees!
still one of the most beautiful car designs of all time IMO.

DB3S / DBR2 / DB4GT / POW for me.

I am guessing by your moniker that you are a DB5 fan!

I'm a fan of this post - make mine a big AMV8 (1981 old School) shaken. Just had it fully restored and she performs very well. With straight pipes a fe tweaks and a Transgo kit on the torque converter the BHP is up around 375. I'd like to hear from other V8 or Vantage owners not to mention the DB fans.

Indeed.

Why moan about the lack of threads on other Astons? When all you need to do is start one.

And they are not common in SOS, you have most likely seen me and Shady driving around alot.

Cant you just go away and post on the SAGA website?

I love all Astons but I regard mine as a 'proper' AMV8 (much the same as the DB owners who regard their cars as the only 'true' Astons).

This is a pic of my car on a track day at Mallory Park. The next AMOC one is on 21st April. I'll be there and I really hope that some modern Astons turn up for some fun.

Sorry, Ian. Just read your profile. Did'nt mean to diss you.....

Its the latest model so its obvious that there will be many proud owners about, just like the DB9. The same will happen with the DB9XL(oops I meant the Rapide). I agree with doubts about the new models being too common, I've seen many other astons lately but too a certain extent that is a good sign. (Although I am currently looking at slightly rarer cars to replace the '9 around Christmas!)

IMHO (controversial as it may seem) the DB9 and Vanquish sound much, much nicer than the AMV8, I've owned several V8's (RR, xkr and Merc)so I do appreciate and love the V8 sound, and have spent a week with an AMV8 so I am talking from an informed viewpoint. In fact, even though I own a '9 I would go as far as saying the Vanquish S sounds nicer at lower revs, proving im not biased either. I like a V8 to sound like a V8, growly and slightly unrefined, the AMV8 sounds a bit too generic to me, it just sounds "loud" (see TVR etc), there isnt a underlying tone of V8 seen in 70's muscle cars from across the pond which even the modern Mercedes V8 displays. Just to confirm, im not deaf and have the hearing of a 20 year old, medically proven!!

Edited to add some pornography for classic Aston owners:

Blimey! You need to sit back before steam comes out of your ears. Just to clarify, I think the new AMV8 is a lovely car, if I could I would trade my everyday car a “Porker” for the baby Aston. My point is, I have seen more on the road than what I thought I would. Sorry to pluck a nerve old boy.

As for the classic AMV8, what a lovely car. Never forget when my dad took me to school in a V8. Was like a dream come true.

2nd DB9???

If you're referring to my profile, my first was the December 2004 BD, owned it for 5 months at it was in the shop for 2 months being repainted twice due to unnaceptable stone chipping (every single trip, im not kidding). I have a few contacts at Aston who contacted Stratstone, who proceeded within 1 week to put in an order for another car, same colour but with heated windscreen which i declined on the first car. The updated software modules and niggle inprovements (steering judder, sticking exhaust) on the later cars make it completely different, a big improvement IMO.

Hi, V12AML. My car is a series 3 V8 Saloon (yes really !) from 1977. The 80's Bond one is a series 5 (flat bonnet, fuel injection, 4 valves per cylinder etc.). Mine has 16 valves, carbs, a manual 'box () and no rear silencers.

Dr.Jock, nice pic of your car in your profile.
