Looking to get a new car next month for the summer, but not sure with one to go for.
A used DB9 or new AMV8?
which one do you think will lose more money over a 10k 5 month summer?

It always makes me sad when someone buys a car just for a few months, who doesnt really love the car, who wont cherish it, but sho just wants is for the summer as "the next thing"- next year, no doubt it will be the new Ferrari. And then the Lambourghini. And then.....

Always makes me sad, but then that might just be me.

Buy either. Enjoy them. But dont complain if you lose a lot of money on either. They are just cars, afterall

It really depends how you want to use it ?

I sodl my DB9 to buy a V8... and it's SO much more a drivers car.

The '9' is great for crushing continents on autobhans, but it's still a big heavy GT. The V8 does everything well, but slightly only very slightly lacks the mid-range punch of the DB9. Does that bother me ?
Does it **** .... The Noise , OH !! the noise it's just fantastic.
The DB9 makes a nice racket, but the V8 is twice as loud (or three times if you uncork it) and is just orgasmic.

V8 for me ... happily

If you want a V8 for this summer you should have ordered it a year ago! you'll maybe get one from someone selling their order at a profit, so best solution, order the new V8 now, buy a DB9 for this summer, and trade it when your new V8 arrives next year.

Desmo...there are a few at list price in the papers each week so he should not have a problem if he's a little lucky and not too worried about spec!!!

I'm not UK based Gary so not up to speed on the second hand market , sounds like some people are selling their orders at retail then, which is handy for some. Don't know why anyone would want to sell one after 2,000 miles though, it's an awesome car.

The V8 may still carry a small premium this year as they are still going for £90-100k for immidiate delivery, I think the DB9 is now starting to depriciate as they become more widely availible, expect a DB9 in 5 months to be worth something in the mid to high 90's.

Edited to say i couldn't belive the rate the Vanquish depriciates. 70k in under 3 years!!!

you can always walk into Grange Brentwood and buy my cancelled order! Sitting in their showroom and won't cost you more than list price... Go on, you know you want to....

V12... if you had seen the ads in the Sunday Times the last 2 weeks there were a few with a £2K discount, some at list price and a few asking for a £1.5-£2K premium. Market seems a little fragmented so hard to guage whats happening...probably a few speculators bailing out!

Yup! What's it look like? I haven't been over since cancelling and it arrived about a week after I had cancelled.

Cirks - why did you cancel? I know you had some doubts but have you heard any regrets on this forum from anyone who has actually taken delivery? Each to their own of course but as a fellow TVR fan and track driver I would have thought you and I share a similar taste in cars. I absolutely love my V8 - as the EVO guy says, its a £90k caterham with an exhaust note to die for and such a special place to be.

Rob T; 19k for a motorised bathtub, you were seen off mate.

(I'm on my 5th, so tongue is firmly in cheek)

My current caterham is a lot faster than the Aston and much, much quicker round a track, but the Aston sounds better, looks better, has extras like a windscreen, roof and doors, and most of all, never in a million years is the caterham gonna cause moisture in the fairer sex (unless its tears of laughter).
