Delivery delays and no dealer communication
Discussion
Has anyone had several delays to the build of their AMV8, but no communication from their dealer? I was given a build date of mid January for mine with delivery scheduled for mid Feb. As this was so close to the 06 reg I asked my dealer to withhold registration until March 1st . ‘No problem’ they say, so I go on holiday happy in the knowledge that I should be able to pick up my new car upon my return and expect various mail to be awaiting me when I get back with requests for payment, but there is nothing, so I visit the dealer to find out why. When I get to XXX of XXXXXX-XXXX-XXXXXX I ask the receptionist what has happened and she goes off to check the computer, and says it’s in ‘body and build’ or something like that, then scurries to ask the salesman how long until delivery ‘body and build’ means, ‘oh it should be here within 5 weeks’ he say. To me this is absolutely shocking, the first I here of a delay shouldn’t be 2 weeks after it's supposed to be complete and 2 days before the scheduled delivery AND only when I take the time to visit the dealer. I find this to truly awful customer service, I’d expect better if I was buy a Fiesta let alone an £80,000 sport car. This isn’t the first uninformed delay but as the other was before I was given a confirmed build date I didn’t feel I had reason to complain.
Has anyone else had such problems with delay and dealership customer care??

Thanks for the reply.
To be honest it's not the delay that bothers me, more the poor customer service. The dealer claims the lack of communication isn't their fault, and that they are notifed of delays a couple of days before the scheduled delivery, but that excuse seems a little weak to me.

Akers,
the dealer will only be passing on information that the factory give them they are in between a rock and a hard place.
I think my dealer is the same as yours and they definitely are telling the truth. I took my issue up with the factory and it was clear the lack of confirmed dates is the factory's fault.

Henry,
It was meant as a joke but im waiting to hear from porsche to find out when my turbo will appear. I may need to if its very early and the amv8 very late.
Bund...you and me both! Buggers keep trying to fob me off with "we will tell you when we have worked out who is a speculator and who isnt" whilst I not unreasonably in my humble have said that as they have had my order for 2 1/2 yrs I didnt think it that unreasonable of me to know where I stood!
Oh and Shadey...did you get my email?
Espritmad, I'd be very interested to hear about all these engine problems you mentioned? we've delivered plenty of AMV8's (30 odd) and have had no engine trouble whatsovever. Clients are very satisfied with the car. I'm sure the factory would be very interested to hear about it if there is a pocket of cars in leeds that are behaving badly!
