is this OK? How is this such a British car - as they claim - when it's onwned by the Americans, run by a German and now the engines are German made?

It's far too smooth, revs fantasticly, makes an awesome sound and touch wood, has never put a foot wrong.

I'd much rather have a hand built British engine that has relability issues.

But yours is basically a Jaguar engine.

I couldn't care less if the engine was hand assembled by buddhist monks in Tibet, it loves to rev and sounds incredible.

Engines have been made in Cologne for years now, been owned by the Americans for years and funnily enough it has been run by a German for years.......

It's like the Antiques Roadshow of postings, lol......

yes, of course your right it's basically a Jag engine. a bit like the DB9 engine is two Mondeo V6's glued together

Just off home now to go for a spin in my American Aston Martin with a German Engine, Italian seats, Swedish satnav.

My point is that Aston Martin claims to be all things British.

No, because it is ONLY Russian owned, the cars are made and engineered here. But Aston is losing its Britishness, not that people seem to mind.

Not really. Take a visit around Gaydon or Newport Pagnel and it still feels very British.
So many cars now days have components out sourced or made abroad. It really doesn't bother me and i'm one of the biggest Aston nuts you'll meet.

Is every single component of a TVR made in Britain then ?
Not trying to be sarcastic, I just don't know.

Anyway, this got very boring back when it was relevant and it is fast approcahing it again now.

Like Shady said, shall we dust off the "2 Mondeo Engines" thread, lol....

Or even better, the Carerra S vs V8 thread, that got VERY boring

I guess whether Aston is British or not lay in peoples perceptions, IMO, it's British

Sarky lot. The Aston Martin Cologne thread was nearly 3 years ago.
My point is still, of the following foreign owned British marques, Aston claimes to be most British: Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, Rolls Royce and TVR.
