Those Yanks certainly know how to ruin a great car.
Here is an Aston from the P-Diddy school of taste!

A bit too much chrome, methinks. Keep the polished lip, lose the chrome on the spokes. At least they fill the arches nicely.

I'm in two minds about chrome wheels. Under a Californian sun they look OK, but with a bit of M25 grime, not so good

Each to their own.

A fine illustration as to the effect the right set of wheels (or more to the point the wrong set) can have on a car!

All Aston owners should have to pass a mandatory age, etiquette,
and social graces course prior to ownership. This kind of thing
compromises the marquee.

Disagree 100% with the age point, if we're stereotyping here, then at least younger drivers would use a sporting bred Aston, as opposed to humming it up and down the King's road. Then again, we wouldn't want to compromise the tent would we

So, what age should be appropriate for an introductory sporty bred Aston owner?
Would you buy a 19 year old a Vacheron Constantin or Jaeger? Or perhaps a Wally cruiser? A 100k+ gentleman’s automobile in hands of an inexperienced junior is a recipe for disaster, or at the very least, a very bad taste in wheels. If I was handed the keys to 170 mph+ car at the age of 23, I probably wouldn’t be here to write this drivel.
I have found that most of the finer things in life are only really appreciated after time.

Its not the age that matters, its the experience and maturity. I'm 20, drive my father's cars more frequently than my own and I haven't so much as curbed an alloy, hell I even fly my dad around in his Malibu Meridian (a bit more difficult than a wally) .

Out of interest, is there a sticker on that Aston saying "owned by a 19 year old"? most of the people who put chrome/spinners on cars are in their 30's, and that is a fact. As for appreciating things over time, I can say with my hand on my heart, I personally appreciate more cars made before the year of my birth than any modern car. I can appreciate your point about young inexperienced drivers, but find your sweeping generalisations highly misinformed.

Petrol_noggin,
Here in the Colonies, the main culprits of the chrome wheels are late teen and early twenties. In fact, the area in which I live is unfortunately saturated with them, not to mention that ridiculous exhaust. I would suspect the ex owner of that Vanquish to be a footballer or such. Here in the States there is another certain clientele that would disgrace a work of art like that. It has a stink of Americana about it, and I should know!
On occasion I do find it necessary to speak in general terms to make a direct specific point.
If you are in fact only 20, then you have my sincerest of congratulations and respect. But let's be honest, this would make you a grand exception to the rule.
Regards

Agreed, as I said I can to a certain extent appreciate where you're coming from, but watch who you tar with the same brush! I didn't mean for any maliciousness to come through in my post, its friday so I'm a bit worse for wear so I apologise. Im sure we both agree however, that this Vanquish should be given back to sane and capable hands, no matter what age .

Petrol_noggin,
No apologies necessary old boy.
I find that now I am the one in the position of apology to you.

Far too frequently I use myself as a frame of reference,
by remembering MY own reckless inexperienced nature at that age.
I was just lucky my Lotus barely hit 130.

Nice to see that a standard car (with exception of the wheels) was voted 12th out of over 1,000 entries, probably would have been 1st if they'd left the original wheels on it!
Would you really trust those chromies at 170 MPH! they're probably made in China!
