Hiya,

I'd like to know peoples own experience of reliability. Is EVO doing an injustice?

Cheers

This is a topic I am very interested in as am about to receive a car which I intend to use as a daily driver 12k miles a year or more...There has been quite a lot of discussion on this topic on the AMOC forum and the general consensus seems to be that the area of concern is in the electrics/software. A few flat batteries and warning lights going off left right and centre. Having said that, this only seems to be happening on a few of the cars. Others have had a few months of trouble free motoring. Whilst it is not something you expect nowadays, it seems some cars are more problematic than others.

This thread is of interest to me also. Together with the reliability issues, how practical is a car like this to use as a daily driver.
A car as conspicuous as this will surely attract a lot of attention, with the danger of some of it being negative.
Can a vehicle like this be left with confidence in shopping centre car parks, city centres etc?
Both the reliability issues and the above are of interest to me.

I don't feel that the car will attract a negative feeling in the norm. Yes, if you park in a deprived area expect it to, but that would be foolish with any expensive item.

What is interesting is that we have one reply from a AMV8 owner, who has had no issues, and nothing negative.

What a shame that the general thought is that it is unreliable, purely because of a write up in EVO. I have written before that they are very pro Porsche, and seem to highlight the negative in the extreme for any other make that competes for their market.

1000 faultless miles here. (touch wood)

It's truly has impressed me. It's a far better car than I had anticipated when ordering.
The handling , grip, poise and general feel on the road is fantastic. Having come from a DB9 I was a little aprehensive about the change, but the V8 is a far more acomplished drivers car.
The DB9 was fatastic at crunching autobhans and longs stretches of motorway, but the V8 is just as at home on twisty 'B' roads. The much publised 'lack of power', I feel really doesn't come into it. Yes, it's not 996TT quick, but not many cars are, the pace is just about right give or take 30/40 bhp.
As my firend Rich452352 said after he took delivery of his.
"It's not the same as driving a Porsche, beacause this feels like it's an event each time you start up!!
The sound is also better than I had exprected and 50% louder than the DB9.

Love it !!

I have been holding off because mine has been in for 1000 mile service and I did have a few faults. I picked the car up at lunchtime and all the problems have been sorted out. I was impressed with the dealership attitude as well. Some of my problems may have seemed a bit picky but they took it all seriously and seem to have nailed it.
There was one in particular which worried me and although the response at first was that "they all do that", torqueing up a bolt seems to have made a huge improvement.
I now have a near perfect car and was followed home by a friend on a 1 litre motorbike who claimed to have trouble keping up under acceleration, so it must be quick!

Well is it's any reflection of what I think is happening with this car......

I bought a new house in September to house my GF and her children and as I had a 50% overspend I had to cancel my AMV8 order.

I have since ended that relationship (it's a L>>O>>N>>G story) and have had the estate agents round today as I will be selling the house IN ORDER TO GET THE ASTON!!!!!!

You know, life really is too short to worry about specific niggles. Better to die happy with 100,000 miles of Aston driving under your belt than to have never Aston'd at all!!!

A dream is something everyone should chase at least once in their lifetime!!!

Gary (slightly pissed but very clear of mind)

It felt as if the steering column was knocking, as if there was some free play, over certain types of bumps. The effect is greatly reduced now but still occasionally detectable.
