How to uncork you V8/DB9 exhaust.
Discussion
Don't get ripped off by your dealer when asking to open up the exhaust. It is simple, takes a few minutes. The exhaust valves are closed to make it quiet, a vacuum pump pulls these valves closed. There's one each side, you need to disconnect the vacuum pipe at the valve, and block it off with a suitable rivet or bolt. Job done! it is important to block the pipe after disconnection to prevent the vac pump running all the time (if there's a leak) It's easy to reconnect if you get pulled by the rozzer's.
regards, Desmo.
P.S. It has no effect on the engine whatsoever as the valves are at the back, all the fuelling sensors are in front so they automatically adjust fuelling.

Shaun, my car is in for it's 1000 miler and they wont de-cork it . Their policy apparently.
So if you can supply a few more details etc, I might have a shifters myself, but only if it's not muppetable
How do you gain access to the pipes?

Just spoke to some guy at Aston and they said they would un-cork it for me, but think id get sick of the noise after a while. They said they have done it to a few DB9's no problem with the warranty.
Having had a '9' I'd tend to agree with him. The V12 is a more tinny/burble which might become annoying around town, whilst the V8 lends itself to be more noisy/gruff. The DB9 imo is a more serene beautiful car that has two faces, Beauty and the Beast, whilst the V8 is just a beast

Shady, was it the garage that delived your car that wouldn't uncork it? I asked the salesman and he didn't think it would be a problem.
I already have 580 miles on mine, so it won't be long before I am in for that first service.
Yes,
service are against it. I told them to expect an influx.
I've spoken to factory engineers who have no problem with us uncorking the exhaust valves.
The dealer will probably charge you 1 hour, because of the paper trail of job card, car on ramp, invoice etc. but the job is only a few minutes. I'll try and get some digital pic's of what to do, then it's simple.
