New 007 to drive New Aston
What exactly will a 'DBS' be?
It's been confirmed today that James Bond will drive an Aston Martin in the remake of Casino Royal.
Daniel Craig, who will play James Bond in the film, which is due to be released in November 2006 by MGM/Sony, visited the Aston Martin headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, on Friday to view the featured car. While there he met Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez, and members of the workforce and also took the opportunity to take a short test drive.
In the true tradition of Bond, full details of the car to be used in ‘CASINO ROYALE’ are being kept top secret but the company did confirm that it would be a new model called the Aston Martin DBS.
Dr Ulrich Bez said: "It is great news that Bond will drive an Aston Martin again and we have built him something special to enable him to do his job in style."
The association with the marque began in 1964 with the film ‘Goldfinger’ when the DB5 was fitted with ‘optional extras’ such as ejector seats and rockets. The last Bond film, ‘Die Another Day’, featured Aston Martin’s flagship model, the Vanquish.
Aston DBS
But then I could be completely wrong.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on view), I would guess it's going to look like a 'muscled' DB9. Making yet ANOTHER AM model that looks very similar...nice looks, and this one will I hope follow the Vanquish's 'restrained power' muscular bulges.

Methinks it could be an entry-level model in the spirit of the George Lazenby-style DBS, perhaps featuring an engine, platform and transmission from the new Jaguar XK. Well, the name would make sense alongside the AMV8 Vantage...

Almost certainly a Vanquish replacement - which is based off the DB7, hence XJS underpinnings!

STOP SPREADING BULLSHIT! Sorry, but the Vanquish is not based on a DB7. it has nothign to do with an XJS. It was a totally new car, and the basis for the VH platform used, in modified form in the DB9. And no, it doesnt have "2 mondeo engines stuck together"...

Ahem, to reiterate what is said above, as it'll probably be removed, yes you are indeed talking nonsense. Vanquish has nothing to do with either of these.

IIRC the DBRS is the racing version, the DBR9 is the road-going racer
DBR9 is the GT1 race car. DBRS9 is a milder club-race version.

The V12 has some quite fundamental differences, but that is where it came from.

The bottom end was taken from a Mondeo and re-engineered, they then stuck 2 together and made the bottom end of the Vanquish engine.
Yes it did come from there, BUT, it is hardly 2 Mondeo engines stuck together, in fact, it is miles away from it.

Totally agree, the car is a stunner!
I just hope that this Bond film is not such a shameless advertisment for the Ford group as the last one was.

'Shameless advertisment'??,,,I thought the last one was a good one!
Bond films are known for featuring plenty of 'Car action' so what's the problem if it's done well?
Bond without cars would be like a Bond without bikinis,,,dull indeed!
