Does this fascia reflect into the windscreen and therefore cause problems/become annoying or not??

So far two people have told me yes and two have said no. Need to finally decide for my V8 Vantage Spec. Preferably would like to hear from people who have it (on their DB9 or whatever) more so than people who have just seen it once under bright lights of factory.

Thanks in advance.
Hoping for lots of replies quickly

I can't confirm or deny the reflection issue......but I can say it's my favourite "wood" option. It just looks gorgeous.

Hopefully someone help you out though.

It certainly does.

I looked at it on the cars at the factory on my speccing visit and pointed it out there.

I did not spec it because of this.

Ask to go back to the factory and take a look.

I have driven a DB9 Coupe with Piano Black and it showed no serious reflections on a very clear sunny day. As you rightly point out, it is somewhat different under harsh lighting in Gaydon.........but hey, everyone's an expert

Oh dear, its not about being an expert is it, oh mr patronising. Its about actually having seen the thing and being stunned how much reflection there was.

Visibility out of a car for me is important, my myopic friend. You may not car as long as you can smoke your cigar at a comfy speed. But I want to drive the car , and shock horror, see out of it, especially as the visibilty is already poor.

Have had no reflection issues at all. Had lower centre console done in Piano black as well. Sets off metal trim around switches etc really well. Go for it!

the fascia is very high gloss, its placed close and curves towards the windscreen. Physics dictates that it will reflect into the windscreen. And looking at it confirms this

If it helps, I went in a DB9 across Europe that had Piano Black and I don't remember ever noticing any problems with reflections.

Wasn't looking for them, but, they also never made such an impression that they drew my attention.

Geez guys, chill....no need to , the chap only asked for opinions (and we all have our own!).

Perhaps the best option would be to ask Gaydon/your dealer to ensure you get to have a look at a car with the piano black fascia. Seems everyone has different opinions and you'll have to make up your own mind.

BTW, LA.....as I'm sure you realise, it was the DB7 that had MX-5 door handles....not the '9 (unless you were baiting )

without irritating anyone who's responded on here but Rich1231 is the only one I agree with.
The factory actually suggested not going for the shiny consoles when speccing mine due to the high reflection (I think they might know best). For all of those who have no problems with the DB9, can I just ask what this has to do with what it will be like in a V8 which, although has a similar interior is a) not the same and b) a different shape screen?

Totally agree with you that it looks great... You may not have seen the reflections, though I think maybe you are looking at this from the DB9 point of view.

Persuader, Im sure if you ask your dealer nicely they will let you see the cars again to see for yourself.

The problem is with an issue like this is if you havnt seen it yet then you wont believe it exists, but once you notice it, it will climb onto your t1ts.

Have just got out of 9 having been in it for approx 5 hours today driving through mix of overcast and bright sunshine. Made a point of looking for reflections, which to be fair there is a bit, but to be honest, unless you actively look for it you don't notice it whilst driving, due to focus of vision being mainly directly ahead or to wing mirrors. I certainly haven't noticed it, before deliberately looking for it. Hope this helps with your choice - even better ask your friendly dealer if he has a 9 in stock with Piano and take it for a drive.

You totally right, i only have experience of it from a DB9 point of view and had no problems at all.

I have no idea what it will be like on the AMV8.

does look good though !

reply from Aston Martin after I sent them an email after reading a previous post about Piano. I ordered it on my car and am definitely keeping it :

In response to your query, we have not received reports from customers complaining about reflection in the V8 from piano black fascia. This fascia has also been available on the DB9 for some time again without serious complaint, though under particular lighting conditions, it may of course be possible for some reflection to occur.

Rather than relying on others' opinions which may not always be reliable and subject to personal taste, if you are concerned, my advice would be to speak to your dealer and try to arrange a viewing of a V8 to decide for yourself. That way you can choose to either keep the piano black or switch to alloy instead.

Kind regards,
