I have seen some DB7's in the 40k price range in various mags. I assume these are not v12 but 6, what do you get in a DB7 for 40k? Also, what are the running costs for DB7's

What you get is an overpriced, cheaply made, unreliable, badge engineered XKR which to cap it all is pretty horrid to drive and very expensive to run.
Buy a £30k XKR and spend a bit with one of the handling, tuning, bodystyling lot who do Jags and you'll have a far far better car. I always thought the DB7 was the sexiest car in the world - then I test drove a three year old one which I really intended to buy. It was so awful to drive that even its looks did not persuade me to have it. It completely ruined my day - I was so disappointed.

So you've driven one car and therefore they're all crap huh?

I drive an Alfa so maybe I'm prepared to overlook things more than some....

If you take a look on the Aston Martin Owners Club website amoc.org there are 10 cars currently advertised between 38 and 45k. Post in their Forum and get their opinions, I think they might differ from RUF3s

Personally I would have an Aston over a Jag every day of the week. As Mr Clarkson said.....

Its a bit easier to forgive a 20k new Alfa than a fairly secondhand 40k Aston. As a point of interest what did you think of the DB7's you've driven ? Or perhaps you just read about them in a magazine. For what its worth I've driven four different ones (2 manuals and 2 Autos) between one and three years old and kept hoping the last one was just a poor example.
Finally I concluded I was always going to think the last one was a bad example and gave up. Remember also that at 40k we are talking five or six years old.

See my previous posts re;DB7, totally agree with RUF3 having driven 4 of them myself with the intention of buying one. Never been so gutted in a car.....

sadly, I too have to concur with the general opinion - I test drove a couple of DB7s last year (US spec, but I'm not aware of any significant difference from UK spec) supercharged 6 - and although achingly beautiful to behold, they were dynamically flawed (especially versus the M5 I was driving at the time)

I really wanted to like the DB7, but was dissapointed (especially considering the price) and so went after an XKR instead, but the looks don't do it for me so I'm waiting for a new XKR or the new 'baby' Aston...
