I was having a coffee at Caffeine&Machine on Sunday and I noticed that an AMR Vantage had a slimline number plate plinth that a guy I was with said was off a GT8 - see image below (standard plinth indicated in lilac, "slimline" in blue)

Has anyone fitted one of these? I appreciate that many people just attach the plinth directly to the bumper, but I don't want to do that for reasons, so I wondered if this was a alternative way of mounting the plate lower. If you have, how does it attach to the body? And do you remove all of the old mounting hardware, including the bolster plate and the four studs (circled in red)?

To clarify, this refers to UK plates

Is the “slimmer” one the same one that was standard fitment on V12 Vantage S? I put one of those on my car a few years ago, but I removed all of the OEM original plinth including the brackets/bolts etc, and then screwed the new plinth directly in to the bumper. I guess that’s not exactly what you’re really looking for though? I’m not certain but I think that may be the only way to fit it. Could be worth asking your local friendly AM MD, as I’m not even sure if the slimmer plinth is still available nowadays. HTH a bit. BRM.

My Vantage AMR has the slimmer plate fixing it must have been standard as it's not been changed.

I made a rectangular plinth from gently curved 1mm aluminium sheet, and fixed that to the original mounting points at a lower height. The number plate is screwed to the plinth, with an intermediate layer of 15mm black self-adhesive foam. Been like that for 10 years, and the lower position looks much better in my opinion.
