Rapide 2013 oil change
Discussion
hi all,
i will be seting the car on 4 jacks soon to do an air and oil filter chnage etc...i ordered all the parts, gaskets etc...
while asking about the inner wheel arch around, someone told me i could just unscrew the front of the arch, i am confused as i looked 2 different db9 video and one guy yes remove the front part only while the other guy removed the whole thing, i looked on my rapide and the wheel arch is in one piece not divided in the midle, so i wander if i can still unscrew half of it to change the air filter or if i should remove it entirely....
I will be lifting the car on a stone floor not so flat, hopefully i will go very slowly about lifting it, i did one side only the other time and it was fine, i never lifted both side in the same time before.
lot of confusion, Peter from martin garage in UK first told me remove the under tray to get the oil filter but later on i heard on left hand drive cars, its not possible to remove the oil filter, so my only options is from the top engine. i never got confirmation from guys in the US who did their service if its true.
anyway, any comments or tiups will be appreciated, will try to shoot a small video of each operation hopefully it won't distract me from doing it correctly....the dealer in valencia here i contacted them 3 weeks to check prices of a few things to do and they never replied, asking my vin number 3 times when they never did before, i psent 21k euros with them and they treated me this way, any other dealership is at minimum 500kms so i will do it myself.

Hi - in the US here, left hand drive. I’ve changed the oil myself in my 2015 DB9 and yes, you can only get to the oil filter from the top. It’s quite a pain to remove it but it can be done. My filter was screwed on so tight that I had to remove the cross brace also so I could reach in with both hands. Reinstalled just hand tight, so we shall see if it’s any better next time.
Have not done the air filters yet so can’t answer the wheel arch question.

If you have a RH drive you can reach the oil filter from below, belly pan removed (no steering rack in the way like the LH drive).
I just completed my oil change - you will need 14 liters and be sure to pre-fill your oil filter.
2013 and on the wheel arch liners are a pressed composite felt type material, not sure how the air filter change would go without removing them.
Don't forget your pollen cabin air filters.
A great source for DIY info is from Steve at Aston1936, it's a 1st gen DB9 so not many differences from the Gen2 cars.

If you have a LH drive then remove the small bolt on top of the head by the throttlebody that holds a long pipe in place, remove the breather rubber pipe from under the throttlebody tube, remove the throttlebody - now you will have access to reach down and remove the oil filter. Its REALLY hard not to make a mess, so lots of rags or such to keep the mess to a min.
Good luck

If it is a LH drive the oil filter comes out the top. Do yourself a favor. When removing the filter let it sit with the open end up and use a syphon to get the oil in the filter out. Then when you pull it up and out it won't spill (as much)... I shove rags under it to catch the oil as it typically leaks.
hi guys today finally i could chnage the oil and filter all went well, it was dificult for me but all is ok.
but i have an hard time removing the 7th screws fromthe air filter boxes. i dont know what tool is needed, i don't remove the under plate myself. and on the rapide its tighter than a db9 to remove this 7th screw from the air box. any tricks, tool you use on a rapide to remove all screws from the air boxes? mine is a lh yes, i got it from the top. I used a ziplock bag after unscrewing the filter with the wrench i placed the zip bag around the filter and it went well.
