Hi all

I’m looking to get back into an Aston Martin Vantage after owning a 2007 car some years ago. I’ve been looking at the S variants but also seen a few N430’s in my budget range which look quite appealing. The only issue is the painted accents of the lipstick and a pillars don’t do anything for me. Does anyone know in the UK if you could option an n430 without the coloured accents? I’d love an Alloro green car like this one but I just don’t know if they exist.

https://www.sp-67.com/voiture.php?voiture_referenc...

Also can anyone tell me what the main differences are between an S and a N430?

Thanks

Trevor

I can't help you I'm afraid but I do agree on the different colour accents. Don't do it for me either, looks a bit 'max-power' and I would also like to know the answer. Or possible costs to have altered.

I have seen one where the accents were painted out after purchase but then another older car that had them added in. Personally when I got my N430 I was unsure but they quickly grew on me, I deliberately went for the more subtle scheme though of silver and white rather than the more in your face schemes that are shouting.

As for the differences, the engines are the same 430 bhp I believe that the main difference was in the amount of carbon and some of the options that were available. Mine for example has the normal suspension rather than the S hard set up.

I think the N430 has bucket racing seats, my S has regular seats with different stitching

They were an option, a pricy one. I've seen loads of reviews where they say they were standard though. Mine has standard seats, well it did until yesterday, I fitted Cobra Nogaro's.

A friend bought a Vantage that the dealer had previously wrapped in the car color on the accent parts. My friend removed the wrap film.

You could do it the other way around.

I expect you know that the accent colours were a feature of the DB9R and the Vantage N24 racing cars.

The yellow factory N24 (in the photo below) nicknamed Rose, won at Nurburgring 24 hours and later starred in Top Gear.
Jeremy Clarkson usually drove when they had an Aston Martin for a Top Gear road trip, but the weather was very hot and the N24 has no air-conditioning, or sound insulation. On that one occasion, JC did not choose the Aston Martin. - smile

I have a MY 2016.5 N430 which is one of 20 finished in Q Department Ceramic Grey with Black Club sport graphics which being biased I rather like.

This should help with the specification question https://astonmartins.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/0...

Happy hunting.

Now that I like as it's not in your face, unlike most with complete contrast of colour.

I almost went for an N430 in black with the silver/grey accents which I feel isn’t to much. In the end I ended up buying a vantage s with lightweight seats, I think the n430 and the s are pretty much the same car the S without the accents and carbon front and rear diffusers as standard up to 2016/17? The majority of N430s seem to have plastic front and rear diffusers.

Thanks for the info. So seems like it really was a styling exercise then and not a slightly more focused Vantage S as 20kg lighter thanks to the seats. Looking at the brochure it alsoshows that the clubsport graphics pack was in fact an option and not standard.

ClubSport Graphics Pack: bespoke painted graphics comprising lipstick, mirrorcaps, A-pillar/cantrail (Coupe only) and rear diffuser blade.

Also interesting that the N430 didn't come as standard with carbon diffuser and splitter like the S. I'd definitely be open to one as I particualrly like the interior over a standard vantage but I think it would have to have been optioned without the graphics pack from factory as I think it would probably cost quite a bit of money to have those elements painted to match the body and I don't think wrapping those elements would really look right on an alloro green (maybe if it was black/dark grey).

I purchased an Alloro green without the yellow accents, GT here in the USA. it was difficult to find as most dealers spec’d the car with accents.

"No graphics" exist in UK, too, but only in tiny numbers (given what has been shown in this forum over many years).

Vantage N430 was a "de-specced" version of V8 Vantage S. Last MY16 UK base prices (to the best of my knowledge):
V8 Vantage S: GBP 100,000.00
Vantage N430: GBP 95,000.00
V8 Vantage: GBP 90,000.00

But this is all vain exercise as the cars were individually up-specced or down-specced by the main dealers (or customers). So, everything in between can be found (theoretically).

Same as my old car ,very subtle accents.

Not long after I bought mine I saw an Alloro Green with yellow accents , absolutely hideous imho.

So I'm looking to return to Aston from a 2011 Lotus Evora S. I'd love to hear from anyone who has experienced both and how they found they compared. I had my Evora for a little over a year. What I loved about it was the weight and accuracy of the steering, that it felt like an occasion to drive and made a lovely howl. It was also semi practical and I used the back seats on occassion to do the school run etc. It also got lots of positive attention.

What I didn't like was it was very agriculturtal in terms of gear change and rattly gearbox noise. At slow speeds it could almost sound like a diesel. The stereo was less than useless and the interior quality was OK but didn't feel special.

I had my 07 Vantage a little over a year and from what I remember the car felt more solid/quality but heavier and beefier to drive. More GT where the Lotus is sports car. I loved the feel good factor of the interior, smell of the leather and general sense of it feeling quality and expensive (apart from the Ford key and Volvo fob).

So I'd be interested to hear how people think I'd get on with a 4.7S over the older 4.3 and the Evora. Does the 4.7 feel like a better car and if I go for a 2015/16 car are the improvements in terms of interior, controls, key etc a step on from the 4.3?

Here is a pic of my Evora.

Would you consider a N420 if you could find one ?

Here's ours and it doesn't have the "Lipstick" and I think its better for not having it to be honest

Cant really help with some of the other questions, but ours has the best "factory" fit stereo of any car I've owned so I dont think you'd have any worries on that front.

The 4.7 model was introduced for Model Year 2009, so customer deliveries mainly began in September 2008.
It was announced in (think) May 2008 and you should be able to find the Aston Martin press release describing all the changes, of which there are many. Probably one important change was going from Dynamics to Bilstein dampers. They have proved to give a better ride and longer lasting.
You won't have a Ford key.
There have been three different centre consoles. First being the one that you remember, a different one from MY 2009, then later (cannot remember) it changed again. My preference is for the second one. Not always easy to press the various buttons, which are not needed much, but I prefer the appearance.
Performance is better than the 4.3, not due so much to the BHP increase, but the torque is much stronger.
The S model has a little more power that the 4.7 V8V, but that extra 10 bhp is easily obtained for any 4.7 model.
I am not sure, but it is possible that the S models might all have 'Sports' (harder) suspension.
The original (nicknamed 'Comfort') not Sportpack suspension, is hard enough for me on the present British road surfaces.

My own 4.7 has a couple of tweaks. Twin plate clutch and lightened flywheel (noticeably better with light pedal and more gentle bite point; modified cats; Prodrive air box mod and 3-way exhaust valve switch. The sound level is subdued when on steady throttle, but extra thunderous on full acceleration.

I don't think you will be disappointed. Being so beautiful, will probably make it a future classic Aston Martin.

I haven’t replaced it yet , not really sure what I’d like at the moment.
