V8 Vantage S battery
Discussion
I think my battery is on its last legs, car is sat in garage plugged in to a Ctek 5.0. I opened the drivers door and noticed the ASM pump seemed quiet. I then looked at the Ctek optimiser and noticed the red error light. Car is 2013 and seems to be on it original battery. What brand of battery do you guys recommend? Was looking at Varta 019 AGM?
Any suggestions.
Thanks

I replaced the battery on my 2017 Vanquish S recently with a Varta 019AGM as recommended on their website...early days yet but no issues..
Cleared the odd fault light that had come on as the original battery had seen better days!!! - Mine is also kept on a Ctek charger too since 2019.
2013 is a very good innings for the original battery!!!

For the now ancient lead acid batteries - it's a type 019 and the choice is between Wet and AGM. Branded or unbranded, they are broadly all the same simple things. A branded battery will have a stronger warranty and may be of a slightly higher manufactured quality.
You've done extremely well to get that long from an OE battery, I'm on my 4th or 5th in 9 years. They last much longer since I started using a conditioner and disabled the tracker though.
If you want something genuinely better/lighter than lead and sulphuric acid, look into lithium.

You need to make sure that the battery dimensions are correct Height 175MM, Width 175MM and Length 354mm.
Most sites when you input your reg number will show a height of 190MM and you will find that the bracket that goes over the battery to hold it in will not fit.
After many searches I went for a Yuasa 3000 series battery YABYBX3017 slightly higher spec than the original and with 4 years warranty fits straight in.

I had my dealer fit a battery as it was only £50 more than purchasing one online and they did the whole dismantle and replace. Just FYI..and I asked for the work to be discounted.
If I remember correctly, my dealer wanted about £400 fitted and I had to get the car to them , a bit difficult as the battery was dead , I think I paid about £150 for a battery online the next day.delta0 said:
I recently picked up a 2017 Vantage S and was curious about the battery. Anyway to tell the age of it?
Looking at the marking stamped on the top, to me it looks like Wk42 of 2016, which would be consistent with it being the car's first battery. The only other way to check would be to pull it out because, if I'm wrong, there will be a date stamp on it somewhere. But if you're going to go to the trouble of actually getting the thing out you might as well put a new one in while you're at it, considering just how much VH Astons hate poor batteries.

Any recommendations on the battery? A Varta AGM battery? The only other way to check would be to pull it out because, if I'm wrong, there will be a date stamp on it somewhere. Hey Davil - which lithium battery did you get from Deadweight Industries - thinking it would be the same spec for the 2025 models?
This was for the VH, not the AM6 so not entirely sure if it would be right for you, but you can ask them. I will definitely be going this direction with the roadster (AM6) once you’ve had the lithium battery you’ll never go back. Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
