Apologies to resurrect an old topic but I can't find the thread...

Was there ever a consensus on flat blade wipers (e.g. Bosch Aerotwin) for the 2011 era V8 Vantage?

I recall there was an issue that spring tension in the wiper arm was insufficient to guarantee good contact between blade and screen - are there any newer blades that overcome this?

Having just bought a pair of aerotwins, I can confirm this is still the case with the centre of the blade not touching the screen…..annoying

On the DB9 and Vantage there was a new type of wiper arm fitted from 2012, these work perfectly with the blade type wiper blades (they were designed for the aero twins) and can be retrofitted to the earlier cars.

Part |Numbers are CG43-17526-DA (Drivers) and CG43-17527-DA (Passenger)

Where did you get the carbon wiper arms from Paul ? they look great and a nice solution for those suffering with wiper arm corrosion.

They are the stock 2012-on Wiper arms that I got hydro-dipped to match the mirrors and strakes.

So I have the "new" type of wiper arms on my MY2014 Vantage S. However, a year or two ago I started noticing poor wiper contact in the centre of the blade too. Tried bending the blade a bit, didn't work. Got some new wipers; maybe slightly better but still not right. Greased the hinge, no better.

So I took the arm off to see if any adjustment was possible. As you can see in the photo (old arm on the right), there are 3 positions the spring can go in which result in slightly different spring lengths/tensions and my arm was on the tightest setting. Furthermore, if you look closely at the close-up photo, you can see that the spring has cut into the (inadequate) metal and effectively lengthened the groove so reducing the tension. BTW - good luck trying to move the spring from one groove to another without some kind of specialist tool I don't have as it's very tight in there. Anyway, gave in and bought a new arm (which came with the spring on the lowest tension adjuster) and it works perfectly. Not cheap (obviously) but now the only really annoying thing my car does is have completely useless dip-beam headlights. More on that some time in the future maybe ...........
