How long should a twin plate clutch last?

Interesting question. Speaking to DAE at the AHMT Gaydon event and they say they've never heard of one of theirs wearing out, and they said they use the Aston Martin twin plate clutch assembly. I think it's the same clutch pack as used in the Vantage V12 SSIII.

Obviously no manual clutch is idiot-proof, and clutches are consumable items

I thought DAE used the Velocity twin plate clutch?

Does the twin plate clutch have double the friction plate area?
That might provide a clue to the lifespan range.

Unless the lady I was chatting to on the stand got it wrong. I was talking about maybe getting one fitted to my SSII V8V and she said they were waiting for them to come in, as they use the Aston Martin clutch pack.

Just checked the DAE website and they certainly list AP/Velocity. So apologies as somehow It looks like I have my wires crossed

If I had to guess, I bet DAE were using the AM dual-plate in their kit until VP acquired the tooling to make their own version of the disc.

IIRC, VAP originally used & adapted the OEM V12 twin plate clutch as part of their product; when it became cost prohibitive, they developed the tooling to produce their own version.
