Hi All,

quick question. Noticed that my tail pipes on my Vanquish are looking a bit scruffy. What is the best way to clean them?

Thanks
Josh

That does look bad, but hopefully is just stuck dirt and not anything ingrained.

I assume that the pipes are the usual stainless / chrome type finish.
If hot water with shampoo, applied softly with a small piece of sponge removes the film of dirt, then light use of Autoglym Super Resin Polish should be all that should be necessary.

I use the same procedure to remove water marks from the Bright Finish Grille.

If that gentle treatment does not work, I wouldn't know what to attempt next. All too easy to create scratches.

Thanks. They are supposed to be black. This is a crop of photo from 2022. Does this change the cleaning recommendation?

Thanks

Josh

I'd not advise this, it will damage the coating. AM black finish tailpipe finishers are usually ceramic coated.

Clean with warm water, microfibre cloths and mild detergent.

It certainly does.
As I mentioned, my suggested method is only for the stainless/chrome type finish.
The hot water and shampoo part should be OK, but obviously even minimal abrasive polish might scratch the black coating.

Out of my depth with this now, so hopefully others can help.

The newer Astons seem to be designed to make them harder to clean. I love the simple lines of earlier cars, quick and easy to clean.

It looks rusty to me. It looks like you’ll have to take them off and have them redone. Don’t put any polish on there, you’ll just make a mess.

Are they bolt on finishing tips? They'll probably do it again no matter what you do, take them off and rattle can them with some UHT ceramic paint wink

Why do they need cleaning ?

I assumed they must be the very expensive carbon tailpipe option, made to match the very expensive carbon badge option.
