Hi all - I know there is another thread on another new owner, but didn't want to hijack that and different set of questions from me. I've just picked up a 2019 Vantage, so far so good but I had a couple of quick questions it would be good to see if anyone could help with:

- Does the key need to be in a Faraday pouch? It seems like the wireless stuff only kicks in once the door handle is pulled rather than always, so can I safely store my keys with my other keys without being concerned about a thief using relay?
- Has anyone used Aston Installations for CarPlay installation? If so, could someone give me an idea of price, any feedback on it and does it affect Aston warranty?
- Any recommendations on phone holders?
- Any recommendation on dealers? So far I've not had a great experience - two different dealers both promising call backs which haven't come... Have just moved from Porsche and service was excellent - is that what I should I expect..? Are any outstanding (south of England?)

Many thanks all - looking forward to my Aston Martin experience!

Have annotated below where applicable but in the meantime welcome !
Pics of your new car ?

I didn't but as you say depends on the type of keyless entry.I was reading the other day that supposedly thieves now don't require access to keys but just need a laptop with certain software -whether this is true or not I have no idea.
I do keep 2 of our other cars keys in faraday boxes but they both have different types of keyless entry to your Vantage.
It also very much depends on where you are /where the car is kept etc.

I've not had call to use them but they receive excellent recommendations from those that have.
I did get a quote from them on something for my GT8 ( rear-view camera ) and whilst expensive it was slightly cheaper than 2 Aston dealers wanted not surprisingly.

- Any recommendations on phone holders?

Sorry no knowledge on this.

- Any recommendation on dealers? So far I've not had a great experience - two different dealers both promising call backs which haven't come... Have just moved from Porsche and service was excellent - is that what I should I expect..? Are any outstanding (south of England?)

I would expect " better " service from Aston over Porsche but a lot can depend on perhaps attitude of the person answering the phone or email -rightly or wrongly ( the latter obvs ).
I usually recommend Aston Martin Works but some haven't enjoyed the experience.
HWM usually get good praise but I haven't used them.
I bought my first Aston from AM Cheltenham and that experience was fine including service time although not outstanding.

Many thanks all - looking forward to my Aston Martin experience!

On the couple I can help with:

I keep my keys in a Farady box at home - Not sure if it works or not but for the sake of not a lot of money it's a punt I'll take. Following a tip from an RS6 owner the box is visible if someone broke into the house wanting to steal the car.

One the phone holder I've got one of these for when I need google maps on a longer journey. The small magnetic bar that fits neatly next to the air vent and the metal plate sits inside your phone case.

Congratulations on your new to you Aston.

Dont know about faraday pouches and Aston keys but if you can, why not.

AI charge around £1200 I recall for carplay to be fitted, never had any issues with dealers/warranty with it fitted to my previous Aston. Great upgrade to do. The Aston Martin carplay offering is similar price (different hardware) but does not work quite as well (wireless connectivity can be hit and miss which according to my dealer is 'normal').

Phone goes in the centre cubby hole for me...

No experience of dealers down south...

I have wondered about an experiment to check the effectiveness.
Sit in the car with the key inside a faraday pouch.
Try pressing the Engine Start button.
In theory, the engine will not start.

Does that happen ?

On mine " affected " with keyless access , put the keys in the faraday box and took them out to the car - ability to open the car via the door handle didn't happen so I knew that worked.

HWM at Walton on Thames as a Dealership recommendation and I am surprised your Vantage doesn't already have car play ?
