V8V Original Wheel Colour?
Discussion
Hi,
I've been lurking around the forum for a while obtaining the valuable information herein to assist in my recent purchase of my first Aston Martin V8 Vantage (2006) in Toro Red. below.
My main question is regarding the wheels that are in need of refurbishment (reflected in the purchase price), the picture below shows the worst of the wheels in question...
The wheels have been refurbished (poorly apparently) by the previous owner in a sort of chrome finish? That as you can see in the above picture, is peeling off.
What I would be interested in finding out would be: what is the original colour of the standard V8V alloy wheel?
Does anyone know the paint code or colour name please?
And should I even bother trying to match the original wheel colour or should I take this opportunity to change the colour?
Do I go for a similar chrome finish? Or Black for example? Or something else?
I will really look forward to your opinions, thanks 😊

Please don't go for black - it will look awful.
I would say silver or a grey like this https://www.alloyhub.com/product/genuine-aston-mar...
I think the OE wheel were a satin finish too, not full gloss, but I could be wrong as I don't have them on my car.

Definitely not black, IMHO. Spoils the look of most Astons. With that body colour, the wheels need to be light silver, although I quite like the chrome-ish colour that’s peeling off your current wheels.
Cheers, I quite like the Chrome look too. Odd because it's not a colour that I would normally choose. stevenichols said:
I would go for silver - spend the rest on new centre caps??
Thanks, centre caps are on order. LPH said:

For a moment then I thought that was my car, great choice.
The standard colour for the alloys is a light silver, something close to RAL9006 but anything a shade either side is the way to go.

I see that your's has red calipers too... I wasn't sure about the colour clash of the 2 different reds (bodywork & calipers) at first, I thought maybe they were powder coated red as part of a custom mod' by a previous owner but now I've seen them on your Vantage too I'm guessing they are standard on this colour spec?

My toro red v8 has red calipers also - regrettably the standard AML caliper red doesn't match the car colour. Something which is annoying but not yet fixed.
Hmm, I'm not totally sold on the red calipers with the Toro Red TBH They would look great on just about any other colour car - I think they should've been black or grey, as seen on other V8's

For Model Year 2009 (also MY 2007) the standard brake calipers were Grey.
Alternative colours (Black, Red, Silver) were additional cost options (£295).
I notice most options prices had increased by MY 2011 (alternative colour calipers £495).
