Please take a watch of the video fellow vantage oweners and let me know if this noise is normal?

I can hear a click every 10 to 20 seconds & not sure if this is normal for a 4.3
Any feedback would be very helpful.

I had an engine that did that, I think on a Jaguar X150. IIRC the mechanic said it was the aircon pump cutting in and out, or something like that. It worked fine.

I heard something similar on one of the cars I was looking at last year. I sent the video to a well know Indy who said it was the aircon clutch.. it did sound a bit different. I’ll try and find the video and share with you.

It's the AC clutch, nothing to worry about. thumbup

Turn the AC off and it will stop.

Thanks for the inputs. I will try tuning AC off and report back.

My Vanquish S does a similarly clicking which can be heard from outside the car when idling.
I never knew what it was but it never worried me either as it was a purposeful clicking so sounded like it was supposed to be there.
So yeah, air con cutting in and out makes perfect sense, and another 1 of life's little mysteries gets answered . For me at least smile

sounds simple, if you don't know it sounds scary a bit, like its cutting of ignition for a short millisecond every time, or like some engine's get with the wrong fuel sort detonation :-) but if its just a millisecond cut of from, then I guess not to bad, but also not favorable for an engine to me at least between my ears, not that such says much hehe

I don't know why the NVH guys signed this noise off - it is pretty poor .

Pretty standard noise across many manufacturers. VW for example, have a "displacement on demand" system that has no clutch but the pump tends to eat itself internally and is hard to diagnose when it does fail.

You should see what happens when it engages at 5000 revs/min +. You won't hear it but there's lots of sparks. wink

It's a reliable system, very rarely fails. For the sake of an odd tick that 99% of people won't notice....
