Existing PPF has been on car since 2017 and has a few battle scars so the time has come to rip and replace.

Anyone know of a PPF installer in the Midlands area that has installed on a Vantage (front end only).

Topaz in Leicester just did my Taycan, brilliant job. Pete George is the guy to ask for.

These guys did my 2007 V8V on the bumper and sills.

They're based in the East Mids. Newton Solney just outside Burton-on-Trent

I work with Lionshields and can honestly say they are the best I’ve seen when it comes to PPF and know many Astons that have gone through there.

As for topaz, formally Reep midlands, I wouldn’t trust them to put a screen protector on my phone. They may have gotten better since being taken over by Topaz, but I’ve seen too many shocking jobs to ever recommend them.

Who did you used to bang the drum for that went bust?

One assumes Lionshields give you work, Topaz don’t?

Gents

Many thanks for the replies.

I used Paintshield to PPF a 911 and had a quote from Topaz in London which was nearly twice the price.

I might just drop in to Lionshields as they are not far away and see what they are working on.

Nick, don’t be a child. You should know me enough that I wouldn’t just recommend people just because they give me work. I recommend people, or not, because I have seen their work or have worked with them. Paintshield went bust because of the people that owned it and they also tried to go against the makers of the film, lost and ended being bought out by them and closed down, nothing to do with their work.

If someone wanted CarPlay on their car, I would tell them to go to Aston installations, for the reasons above, but because I’ve worked with them, does that mean that I shouldn’t recommend them?! There are other people out there doing CarPlay etc, most with their kit, but I know them and can honestly say they are the best.

Now, Topaz as a group are good, but Reep Midlands were shocking and have been for many years and I’ve seen so much evidence to prove it. Now, are they better now, probably, but not as good as Lionshields.

Lionshields are better than Paintshield were, mostly because they wrap the edges and you’d struggle to find the film on there. Nothing to do with if I work with them. If someone is in Scotland, then Clark aitkin is the one to see, in the north, most likely miglior detailing and so on.

So please don’t say I recommend someone because I have or haven’t worked for them. It’s based on evidence of their work, nothing else.

Not being childish, Francis.

The respective balance sheets of each company would suggest one is doing far better than the other. There will be a reason for that.

The PPF recently done by Topaz for me is outstanding.

That's all.

I've used Autoshine & Tinting in Telford on a number of cars, they always have a lot of very nice motors going through their doors.

Well, I’m glad they did a good job for you. You can’t compare the balance sheets of a firm that got bought out by a very big one to a few guys in one unit though. Experience would often suggest that the smaller guy is the one to go for. At yhe end nd of the day, there are plenty of people to choose when having ppf, but I’m just giving my advice.

Just as an example though, I look after a lambo that was done at Reep, because they were taken over and it was a bad job, film lifting, dirt under the film etc and it had to go back to be fixed. You know what they said? They put it on “the detailer” for noticing it and I know they used to cut on cars all the time, I even have seen photographic proof of that too. Probably one of the reasons why they never let detailers in their premises.

Anyway, everyone choose who they want to. Just trying to help.

I’m not posting on this thread again

Hi guys, I have used Lionshield on two occasions and found there work to be fine. I think they are a reasonably new outfit over the last year or two. Seem like decent lads to me.
Best of luck
