I remember seeing this for sale years ago when looking for my car. Still for sale and has been since June 21 on Autotrader!

Anyone know the story? Looks OK and not TOO pricey (maybe should be a little less, but seems in good nick and a clutch done.. and interesting colour.)

It was up in May 2023 for £29.5k (using AT Price Tracker). Was that too much back then?

Also, I wonder if mentioning the clutch actually puts people off?

Might be a combination of things. Market has softened so it’s possible that the price was and remains too high for that mileage.

Other things - it’s a dealer sale yet the advert says it’s for sale by owner, it mentions key stuff been done but not when/at what mileage. Mentions SH but not by who, it’s perhaps unlikely a s/h car dealer will pay AM dealer or even specialist prices for annual service check over which they will see as just a very expensive oil change - thus any developing issues may not be noted in paperwork.

Stating that they, as a dealer, have ‘had a few of these’ may also raise eyebrows.

All above, if confirmed by potential buyers asking the right questions are quite likely to combine to suggest that more reductions in asking price may be required to move this one on.

On the other hand, it may be à spectacularly well maintained bargain….

IMHO at that mileage, a tired interior and not the best colour it's overpriced by 3k.

Very tired indeed - just look at the state of the leather around the seat controls. Considering these hardly ever get used I cannot see how you could possible rip and scratch the leather here in so many places. Doesn't bode well for the state of the rest of the car condition.

My 4.3, now 18 years old and 65k miles, gets used every week, very "sportily," and has a few similar nicks/scuffs in the interior, slight bolster wear... perhaps not actual small rips like this one. But is absolutely perfectly maintained regardless of cost angel

Agree though if I came to sell it, would put people off who didn't know the car.

This one appears to have a massive gap (years and milage) in it's MOT history now i've checked. Perhaps a story there too....

The history section says 'MOT Expired 27/12/2021'. So it's been sitting unused for over two years. On the plus side it comes with a month's warranty. A whole month! Where's my chequebook? nuts

I suspect it's basically an unloved car with a shiny finish.

Too much money and at a back street dealer that it stands out like a sore thumb against their other stock, probably the car that the owner is driving around in. wink
Considering what I'm being chipped for my 2006 4.3 with less miles it's mid £20k's

We can have some fun with their description of this vehicle.

ROLL UP, ROLL UP
Here we have a stunning Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

This vehicle was purchased for myself.
NOT BY ME, SO PRESUMABLY MIGHT HAVE BEEN A GIFT (SNIP) FROM SOMEONE

Our vehicles are all handpicked,
SO ARE STRAWBERRIES

Extra Features
These are in addition to what this car typically comes with as standard:

Sports tyres pirelli ... NOT AN EXTRA FEATURE - TYRES ARE NORMALLY STANDARD ITEMS ON CARS
Coloured brake calipers ... IF COLOURED GREY, THAT WAS STANDARD
Alarm upgrade (volumetric and tilt sensors) ... FAIRLY STANDARD
Satellite navigation system ... I THINK THAT WAS AN EXTRA, BUT HAVE WE EVER SEEN A VANTAGE WITHOUT A SATNAV?
Bluetooth phone kit with voice control
Contemporary carpet colour
Heated front seats
19" 7 spoke alloy wheels .. WHEELS ARE NORMALLY SUPPLIED WITH CARS AND THE WHEELS SHOWN ARE 4.3 VANTAGE WHEELS.

They need Lawrence Stroll to write the sales pitch.
LS words and phrases with some Oomph are required;

gangbusters
transformed
super tourer
on fire
intensity
sustainable
I couldn’t be more enthusiastic about the opportunities ahead for this fantastic 4.3 Vantage
The 4.3 Vantage was a key landmark in the ultra-luxury strategy concept that is driven to intensity.

After all that, increase the price to give the impression of a rare premium opportunity.

I viewed this car when I was looking to buy a Vantage about three years ago. It’s at a dealer in Staffordshire that normally deals with much more mundane stuff (check the seller’s other stock).

It looks like it has had a decent polish since then, but I suspect the photos are flattering the car. It was simply ‘tired’ - almost everything on the car looked like it had been used, but not loved. The paintwork in particular was very dull and if I remember correctly, at least one panel needed paint.

I recall it being up for £33k back then and the dealer wasn’t interested in offers.

I spent 15 minutes checking it over and then walked away.

Bodged job.

It also appears that fixings have been used, instead of neat sticky pads.
Therefore two unnecessary drilled holes in the front panel.

Are there any online reviews about the aftersales care?
Obviously ignore the first few pages, because I expect those reviews are probably compiled by 'friends' of proprietors. - smile

To be fair, their reviews are mostly very good, with occasional exceptions and the odd disaster story. One of the dealer’s responses made me chuckle when a reviewer said their £15k car needed £5k of work - “ Thank for taking time to leave a review, however you review is completely false ....you simply brought a car you couldn’t afford ...”

I don't think the dealers would have supplied it like that?

Actually when I got my car the dealer had put his own plates on it, and the front one was the same - on the piss and with screws. I think some sort of small lop-sided myopic monkey travels the country doing them.
