Discussion
There are numerous videos made by the staff at this dealer on YouTube.
They all have the same hugely enthusiastic presentation style. Every car is, "Fantastic, absolutely fantastic".
In the DB12 video, I was particularly impressed by the continuous motion of the well dressed gentleman's arm movements.
Reminded me of an old puppet show, although I cannot remember the title.
Imagine all those salesmen congregating in a room together, when they arrive for work at 5am each morning, to take part in the daily early morning group hype chanting session. They all come out of there really buzzing, ready to perform in front of the camera and sell, sell, sell.
They must 'shift' plenty of cars, but a salesman on steroids, would be a far too overwhelming experience for my custom.
I did notice the comment, "This is a man's car".
Oops, I gather that we are allowed to say that anymore. Must have slipped through the editing.
Everyone belonging to the non-man categories, are sure to start yet another protest march about that comment.
Mind you, just trying to define a woman got an MP in big trouble, so what really is the current accepted definition of a man?

Of course, all the comments are correct and perhaps shows why you should buy from a AM Dealer or specialist though this dealer does stock some great cars as mentioned. I only posted it to show the lovely DB12 off without much thought of the salesman to be honest, and imo a woman driving this would be very sexy! it's a lovely spec car.

That is an interesting point Paul, because I think what has been revealed, is that the overpowering, very dominant presentation style (presumably works for Acklam) has completely diverted AM PHers attention away from the car itself.Certainly a beautiful spec. If it really is the only DB12 in that colour (perhaps not named British Racing Green), the car is still in production, so consequently a meaningless claim.
Would this be a 'flipper', for sale to someone who cannot wait a few months for their very own brand new car?
Quarter of a million is serious cheddar for a V8 DB imo. I drive the DB12 on loan for two days and whilst I enjoyed it, I couldn’t help thinking Aston are getting it wrong with the pricing. (This car was priced similarly with all the carbon options including brakes)
It just doesn’t feel special enough for the price tag. This isn’t exclusively a DB12 issue though. The Vantage and new Vanq will be the same. Even the new facelifted DBX does suffer by this price bloat.
I wouldn’t mind forking out so much if the cars didn’t drop like a stone. I’ve lost £80k in 18months on my dbx 707, lost £30k on my previous dbx over a year. It becomes harder and harder to justify for the “intensity driven” haha

Well you haven’t lost £80K in 18 months as you haven’t sold it Nath! It just doesn’t feel special enough for the price tag. This isn’t exclusively a DB12 issue though. The Vantage and new Vanq will be the same. Even the new facelifted DBX does suffer by this price bloat.

Pricing is what it is and they compete with the likes of Ferrari, Bentley and so on.
Depreciation doesn’t seem so bad in France but I haven’t been looking to sell my 707 yet, as unlike yours, mine’s been trouble free over roughly the same period and 30,000 km (about 19K miles).

You highlight the difference between buying new and finding a well kept, as-new car, about 2 years old.
Admittedly that strategy would fail, if no one bought new.
I bought my Vantage because the model looks so beautiful, unaware that Aston Martin values seem to eventually settle at a reasonably generous price floor. When the cars become old, there is a remarkable value difference between Aston Martin and Jaguar.
Have now owned for 12 years (manual and only 20,000 miles) and if I were to sell now (a keeper), I would have total depreciation of about £20,000. Surprisingly good I think for 12 years ownership.
The higher (in real terms) list prices now, obviously mean there is no chance of me trading up for a new replacement. The arithmetic makes no sense. There must now be many Aston Martin owners, arriving at similar decisions.

Haha this is true but it makes me want to hold onto my car for longer, rather than upgrade to the latest and greatest. Which is what Aston would prefer surely?Pricing is what it is and they compete with the likes of Ferrari, Bentley and so on.

If the number of new cars sold falls, there will be fewer s/h cars available so the law of supply/demand says their value will increase. So Mr Stroll, offer new cars at £500K and I should see the value of my DB9 rise pro rata
