Recently bought a DBX 550 and loving it, ticks all the boxes for me. My wife and I have a road trip planned for August this year, 3000 miles down to Gibraltar into Portugal and back. Travelling that distance thought it best to get a Space Saver Spare Wheel. Aston Martin want over £1300 just for the wheel and tyre, to buy the complete wheel kit with jack is over £1800.Aston bits have a second hand one but they want £800+. Diameter of Space Saver is 21 inches. Is there a knowledgable person that can tell me an alternative wheel that will fit and be safe to use at a fraction of the AM cost. Many thanks in advance.

Putting aside the fact that they’re often range and speed limited, if you get a space saver spare and need to use it, what are you going to do with the full-sized wheel you take off at the roadside (especially if the car is already full)? It presumably won’t go back in the hole the space saver came out of, and will likely be absolutely filthy…

Hi Steve,

I bought one of these for a previous car and kept it with the Aston kit when I had my DBX, cheaper option and less space taken up.

Congratulations on your purchase.
It would be nice to see some pics.
I’ve owned my DBX for over two years and roughly 20,000 miles now, never sufffered a puncture.
Just came back from a long distance trip across France and back.
You should have a tyre repair kit and a small compressor where the space saver wheel should be.
I don’t think you’d like to change such a heavy wheel yourself, if in any trouble just call the roadside assistance. I wouldn’t bother buying a space saver for which there’s 98% chance you will have no use of.
