V12VSM - anything to know and help on insuring it as expat
Discussion
Have finally realised the dream and got myself into a 2017 V12VSM.
It has been purchased from AM Works and they will be servicing it before delivery. This combined with the one year Timeless warranty gives somewhat peace of mind regarding any niggles, but is there anything particular I should attend to before delivery?
The main thing to sort this week will be insurance. I live in Singapore having left the UK five years ago and plan to use the machine on high days and the occasional European run when I'm back, which is typically 4-5 times a year.
In my mind I should be an insurance dream, the car will be used very occasionally, be stored in a locked and alarmed garage (behind a Mk2 Jag). But I'm also aware that most insurers in the UK just won't consider a non-resident (computer says no) and the whole insurance industry seems to have gone mad since Covid.
I do have a UK residential address, phone, bank account etc. but am not a resident for tax purposes. I could also perhaps get the old man to insure it in his name and add myself as a named driver, but he won't be the registered keeper.
If anyone has any experience or specialist brokers or other avenues they could steer me towards that would be much appreciated.
Otherwise, given the use I'll order a CTEK MXS 5 (unless a more suitable product is out there?) to keep the battery conditioned and follow good storage practice between drives. The car comes with a top notch AM cover.
Can't wait to get behind the wheel, although given I've just got back from a trip in early March, it looks as though there will be an agonising wait until June!

Firstly congratulations.
Pics when you have them.
There are various threads on here about ex Pats car insurance but iirc Keith Michaels brokers usually get a mention.
I use Nowell & Richards who I recommend as a specialist broker but no idea if they handle your type of request.
MXS5 is a good shout for a conditioner - Amazon is your friend for usually the best price and also a good choice of various connectors etc.

[quote=chesby]Ah, another Alloro green V12 Vantage S Manual.
This is mine.
Absolutely stunning chesby, I recognise your car from many years of lurking on these forums.
I've been looking for an Alloro car for years and believe that only 4 were produced in RHD without the yellow graphics (not sure if all stayed in the UK). I was holding out for one with the lightweight CF seats, but was too slow to move on the car listed with Hilton & Moss late last year. That was listed at strong money from memory and moved quickly.
This car has come from the collection of Peter Livanos. My old man kindly dropped by AM Works on Friday to look it over and it's absolutely immaculate. Whilst it doesn't have the CF seats, the former keeper did commission a bespoke interior from Q, with the sports seats trimmed in quilted Alcantara and dark brown Caithness leather.
Other than the seats, the AMR Performance Pack would have been nice to have, but I understand from Works that the package is still available to order. Otherwise the spec is pretty much as desired, it has the Sports Plus Pack, anthracite lightweights with yellow calipers, exterior carbon pack, carbon grille surround, facia trim and the black bits etc.

We have a Facebook / WhatsApp group for colourful V12 Vantages - no black, grey, silver or white. Search for us on Facebook and I’ll get you added. This is mine.

This was my V12VS Alloro green, sold it to another PHer a few weeks ago, miss it like crazy already.
Can I ask:- Why did you sell it?
- What have you replaced it with?
(If you've already answered these elsewhere then apologies, I missed it)

Thank you for a private tip from a PH'r that directed me to Classic Insurance Services. They provided very comprehensive coverage for a reasonable sum. Thank you also to the wider community from which I've gleaned many worthwhile nuggets over many years of lurking.
Car safely delivered and now tucked up until I can next get back to the UK in June (unless a trip can be squeezed before). Needless to say cannot wait to get behind the wheel and give it a proper run. Absolute dream car for me and certainly a keeper.
