V12 Vantage - tyre size question
Discussion
An apology if this is a repeat question, but if I search my car (original v12 vantage) for tyre fit (car now running later 19” v12vs wheels)
The online tools provide tyre sizes as;
235 40 19 (F)
275 35 19 (R)
Looking at the old tyres (Pirelli) on the car I have
255 35 19 (F)
295 30 19 (R)
So slightly thinner sidewalls and fatter on rims as I understand the sizing.
I’m planning to move to Michelins PS4. Was hoping for feedback re sizing people are running on their V12 S with the lightweight 10 spoke wheels which will be new to me on the car.
Cheers

If you use a really good tyre sizer on the internet you might find those sidewalls are actually very close to each other in real terms. 5.5%/5mm Front and 7.9%/8mm Rear
Remember that tyre aspect ratio (sidewall height) is exactly that, a ratio.
3mm/2.7% front to rear difference on original tyres, but zero difference on the others. You can't let that difference change too much or you can have your ABS/traction control start playing funny beggars.

Why not the newer PS5 tyres.

The correct OEM sizes for all season or summer tyres are:
255 35 19 (F)
295 30 19 (R)
The size for OEM winter tyres (Pirelli Sotto Zero) are:
235 40 19 (F)
275 35 19 (R)
So replace like for like with what you have on now.

Not sure if the PS5 is available in the right size, but its less sporty tyre than the PSS5, which is the successor tyre to the PS4S, however the PSS5 is certainly not available in V12V(S) sizes.AdamV12V said:

Not sure what "online tools" you accessed, but they are wrong. The sizes you have on your car are correct.235 40 19 (F)

Over the years I have never altered the front size, but I have variably run 295-30-19 and 305-30-19 without issue.
First thing I did was ditch the PZero Corsas. I ran PS Cup2's for years, but last year I decided to try Conti ExtremeContact Sport 02 - very impressed. Slightly more comfortable than the PS Cup2's, and no discernible difference in road performance. I have not tracked the car since putting on the Contis, though.

You may find that the difference between PSS5 and PS5 is much smaller than you think. 255 35 19 (F)
295 30 19 (R)

Implies the differences will be quite significant - but the true test will be the driving, not the specs sheets

Significant? It will of course be better than the 4S. But significantly so? More likely incrementally...This

But proof is in the pudding.
What I can tell you is that the PS5 fitted to my VQ are doing a grand job and I'm very pleased. Offering me a great balance between ultimate grip, comfort and wear rate. PSS5 will no doubt offer more grip, but more comfort and more tyre wear? Be amazing of it can. I don't work the car hard enough to need the extra grip. No doubt plenty of the guys and girls on PH do though.
