Lovely car, so much nicer all round visually than a 911. But I can't help feeling they need to give it more power for the money you're paying. I mean 380hp to cart 1600kg around? Not really tennis is it?

IMO:
60k - current AMV8
80k - AMV8 with 450+hp - now that would be cooking on full gas.

I mean even the Jag XKR has 400hp...

And yet it lapped Ascari only .5 of a second slower than a DB9, go figure

Still needs more power. I'm pleased its a good handler and I know there is a product positioning issue vs the DB9, but 380 horses is not much for £80k+ really is it?

I am sure that an aftermarket company will have something for it soon to get the bhp up

I guess the proof will be in the pudding as they say

Aston (to my knowledge) have never quashed the notion of a quicker/beefier version down the line. I have an order in with a dealer for one if it ever gets made.

You pays yer money......

XKR is a Supercharged version of XK8 - I'd be very surprised if Aston don't bring out a "GT" version in a couple of years with 450+ korses.

However there is a 2-3 year (and growing) waiting list so obviously some people think it's worth it!

There's a 2-3 year list for virtually every sports car when its released. You can't guage demand by waiting lists in this market segment due to the plethora of speculators.

Give it 6-12 months and go and show a few dealers the colour of your money. I'd be amazed if your quoted anywhere near 3 years.

No never heard of him! I have however met Dr Ulrich Bez,
who oversaw the implementation of the porsche 993, he now runs Aston Martin I believe?

Yes, I am aware that the Dealer Training has been taking place at Ascari for the past month. I also know who Ulrich Bez is. The question was not meant to sound snooty, I merely wondered how you knew the lap times.
