I’ve organised yet another Snowdonia driving event, this time over a weekend. Full details are below. If you are interested, please PM me so I can send you booking details. I run this event for free each year and your only costs are fuel, food and hotel rooms.

Friday 21st June, 2024

11:00 Hrs, meet up at Pontcysyllte Chapel Tea Room, Bryn Seion Chapel, Station Rd, Trevor, Llangollen LL20 7TP.
Brunch and brew before we explore the Viaduct and take a walk across its dizzy heights.
12:30 Hrs, head over to Lake Vyrnwy and over the hills into Snowdonia towards Bala and taking the very scenic high road to Lake Tryweryn as we head deeper into the National Park.
We then take the very popular driver’s road the B4397 towards Ffestiniog.
15:00 Hrs, we drive into the land of Portmeirion the Italianate village created by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis and made famous by the TV series the Prisoner and Patrick McGoohan as the spy Number 6. Expect to pay a small entrance fee of around £10pp.
17:00 Hrs, and we head off to Aberdunant Hall for a relaxed evening where we can all eat and drink.

Saturday 22nd June, 2024

09:00 Hrs, If all goes to plan we will take the short drive to Beddgellert the resting place of the bravest dog in all of Wales. Then onwards towards Caernarfon past Rhyd-Ddu in the shadow of Snowdon itself.
10:00 Hrs, Everyone will have the chance to visit the most magnificent Castle where the Prince of Wales was last crowned in 1969. Entrance fees are around £12.50 pp. We will park on the Castle Car Park.
12:30 Hrs, We gather back at the cars and head off up towards Llanberis and the A4086 Nant Peris to Pen-y-pass and onwards to Capel Curig. You will now have circumnavigated Snowdon itself and enjoyed the tremendous views these roads offer.
13:30 Hrs, We head onwards and onto the famous A5 old coaching road. Our next destination is the EVO Triangle. Now spoiled by average speed cameras this road is still very enjoyable and takes us to our early afternoon brew stop at Llyn Brenig for approx. 14:30 hrs.
15:30 Hrs, We set off again, this time we double back up the A5 towards the Crimea Pass and as we drive over the A470 you will have great views of the original Welsh Slate Mines.
16:30 Hrs we arrive back at Aberdunant Hall and look forward to a group meal in the main hall.

Sunday 23rd June, 2024

A free day for everyone.
You could easily visit the slate mines and do the underground tour at Llechwedd, try one of the Zip Lines or if you are extra brave try the giant zip lines at Zip World, Penrhyn. Other places to visit could be a little local shopping at Betws-y-coed perhaps? Conwy Castle or a scenic tour of Anglesey could be your thing? You can also look at the Snowdon Mountain Railway or the two narrow gauge line that run out of Porthmadog.

Thanks,

I completely missed the original post!

I need to check dates, but am interested. How many are signed up to this already, VanquishRider? I presume it’s been promoted beyond PH. Looks like a great route.

18 cars now signed up for this event so we are full to capacity. Organised for free. They will only pay their food, fuel and hotel. I run this event most years. So keep a look out for next years.

Once we have run the event we shall post some feedback. Thanks to all who have joined us.

Steve

Not at present, but if anyone drops out I will look to replace them. At 18 cars we just don't dare go larger.

Feel free, but we won't be there long as very little space and we have much to squeeze in.

Hope it goes well. I was between Astons so didn't sign up - but now have rectified the lack of Aston.
