Not silver or gray
Discussion
Opinions, please, gentlemen.
I’ve had 8 Aston Martins and all have been some form of silver/gray (Tungsten, Meteorite, Magnetic, etc.), but I am considering something completely different for a DBS now. I like the Q Satin Xenon, but neither my wife nor most of my friends like the matte finish paints at all. Not even a little bit, which surprised me.
A number of the YouTube DBS reviews feature Superleggeras sporting red metallic paint (and the unfortunate black tops), and a couple of those reds have grown on me. I’ve never owned a red car in my life, so this would be a huge departure for my image. Might have to have the roof strakes painted to match the body color, though.
Anyone seen the brighter-color DBSs, and admired them?
Thanks in advance…..

Matte paint can be a right pain to look after generally apparently although I suppose you could cover in ppf if that’s your thing.
I’ve seen DBS’s in divine red and Aston racing green ( I know there are variations on this ) and both have looked amazing.
I borrowed a Volante from Works once and that was in a beautiful shade of mid-to dark blue but I never asked the colour name.
But what do I know - I had my GT8 painted in Peridot albeit think it works on that.
I also had a V12S painted in China Grey but again that seemed to divide opinion.
Ultimately your car your colour.

Absolutely try an Aston in non-monochrome. A very clean black Aston is very classy, but I like colour and think the DBS shape lends itself to anything… and enhances it.
HWM (who I can thoroughly recommend dealing with) have three lovely examples on their site at present:
Tour De France Blue (Ferrari colour, must be a one-off!), coupe
https://www.hwmastonmartin.co.uk/pre-owned-cars/16...
Divine Red, volante
https://www.hwmastonmartin.co.uk/pre-owned-cars/15...
Aston Martin Racing Green, coupe
https://www.hwmastonmartin.co.uk/pre-owned-cars/16...
Personally, I’d go for the green one, get the alloys painted silver and enjoy the yellow highlights inside and out (callipers). I’d then get Apple CarPlay installed (HWM or Aston Installations). And it probably wouldn’t take me long to get the roof centre panel painted in the body colour, cant rails in silver to match the alloys and get the badging changed to silver, and…
That’s the trouble with Astons. It’s a slippery slope when starting to customise!

I've had so many silver and gray cars that when I bought my Aston, I wanted something different/unique/bolder to match the car. I ended up with a Hyper Red Vantage. It is one of the most difficult colors to properly photograph. Every camera gets it slightly off. Be sure to look at cars in person to find a color that works for you.
I get a lot of complements on my car's color. I don't think it's over the top as bright Ferrari red. Have fun looking.

I found the opposite - whatever idea I had to try and make it look a bit 'better', it was actually best as it already is!Well quad pipes maybe - but then the sensible part of me thinks that would be like painting extra t*ts on the Mona Lisa...

I have to confess, with my current one, even putting the Goodwood sticker in the rear screen made me think. This one is staying absolutely stock.

I’ve seen that divine red volante being driven - it’s really special and a bit unusual. HWM (who I can thoroughly recommend dealing with) have three lovely examples on their site at present:

Thanks for the input and photos, everyone. I am picking up the red DBS in a couple of days. I’m sure the Highway Patrol will be able to spot me from a much greater distance than my Magnetic Silver Vanquish S. It will make my Aston so much easier to find amongst all of the other Aston Martins in the grocery store parking lot, though.

Congrats! Having owned a Volcano Red Vantage, I know you won’t regret it. Bring that festive cheer to the Waitrose or Aldi car park Out of curiosity, where are you buying it from?

You have certainly been a very loyal customer, Willabeast.
Have you joined the many other multiple owners, by adding a post to the 'more than one' topic?

Thank you, Jon.
