2007 Aston V8V head light washers

Hi all. Mine is due it’s MOT. And one of the head light washers is busted beyond repair. So I’ve glued to the black triangle cover on. Anyway. I’ve just been informed that these are only MOT failures for 2010 onwards. It’s only a minor defect. However I’m reading it’s a failure if they’re HID 2000 lumens and over. I’m not spending 2k fitted. on a new headlight if I don’t have to. Any feedback on this one at all.

When you say ‘busted beyond repair’, what exactly do you mean? The wash element on the headlight unit is very simple. The power to activate comes from the pump behind the o/s front wheel.
Does the system work at all, ie does the pump run and the other side work?
It is possible that it could be a simpler fix than you may imagine.

It’s totalled. My friend Anthony at Aston service Dorset do the repair kits etc. all the fixing lugs are snapped off. However I’ve just learned. . These are not part of an MOT inspection. Only 2009 onwards. I never use them waste of time. Just splash your car after it’s been polished. But a big thanks for responding. Greatly appreciated. I refuse to throw away all that cash. Even to repair it.

I`m not in the UK, but here Switzerland we have an MOT (MFK) which could be considered more draconian, and I glued my headlight washer caps on and removed the fuse after one broke apart much the same as you describe. That was years ago and it`s been through two checks with not a word said. Bloody washers just filthy up the car anyway.
An example of the aforementioned draconian MFK, my mate was in with his Lotus Exige S and the guy says "Your tyres are rated to 270km/h but your car your car can do 271km/h according to the information, so you have to come back with correct tyres."
