Aston V8 Vantage Volante is go
The car has been trade-marked and priced
The Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante is definitely go, according to Auto Express magazine.
Following our story on 9 August, the magazine has confirmed that Ford has trade-marked the design of the car, which features a 4.3-litre V8 and a soft top, with the Patent Office.
It hits the streets in 2007, and will reportedly cost £5,000 more than the £79,000 list price of the coupé.
Discussion
Just rang Lancaster Aston in Reading. Asked about getting on the waiting list. Was told that it's looking like delivery latter end of 2008 (40 on list already) and he wants a £3000 now to secure a place on the list. Why the feck should I have to give them that much to sit in their bank account accumulating interest when it could be in my mortgage account instead??!! Really pisses me off.

Lancaster always ask for deposits a million years in advance!!! Try a different dealer.

Because this is a tiny fraction of the car's price and represents a trifling committment by vaguely interested parties who are genuinely in the market for buying rather than tyre kicking?
I can't imagine traditional Aston punters think three grand is any great shakes and quite frankly, I'd be surprised if even the dubious lines of provincial poseurs who can just about squeeze £1500 a month from their budgets on the drip for a twelve month attempted sun tan-cum profit take sale would be too worried either.
Whilst it's a lovely car, of course, I really don't understand the hype surrounding it: there seem to me so many more compelling options, namely the DB9 proper, the Noble M400, one of the friskier TVRs and as with Bentley these days, if you must have a German car, why noy get something proud of it's ubiquitous but undeniably proven ability, rather than hiding behind some paper thin veneer of mock-Britishness?
You know, it really is all down to shouting: shout, shout & shout again!
{Sorry.}
