Seriously considering to buy one to keep
Love the lines and the V12
Any advice on years/versions to avoid?
common issues and things that I need to check before buying?
Is it worth to insist on one with the touchtronic 3 or is the 2 good enough?
What is the experience in terms of maintainenance costs (will be living in Switzerland)
Is it going to be considered a classic? Not really interested in reselling but more out of couriosity

I don't think there are any versions to avoid, all are pretty robust and solid...
I initially wanted a Gen 2 with the 8 speed box and had set my sights on one in Cannes, France until I saw (and heard) the S version and knew if I didn't have it I would always yearn for one...
I brought mine in 2019 (2017 S volante) with 4k klms on the clock and a year of manufacture's warranty left to run from Basle in Switzerland and imported it to France.
Since then, I have covered over 20k klms in it and absolutely love it..
Servicing is usually around 1500-1800 Euros pa...(had it serviced at AM Monaco, AM Works UK and AM Cannes)
Only had a couple of niggles (petrol cap sticking, window seal coming unstuck and cruise control button on the steering wheel cracking!! - all easy fixes)
Buy the best you can afford and you'll love it...needless to say, mines a keeper.

The differences between the 6 and 8 speed are better MPG and acceleration/top speed for the later models.
I have a 2015 8 speed coupe and it's a great car.
I take it to the UK for servicing at AM Performance in Cheshire, it's close to where the kids live so it's a practical choice.
On my last trip from Cheshire to Kent it averaged 36.2mpg, not bad at all in my opinion.

Non-S 8 speed here too and absolutely love it. I bought from a main dealer (AM Nottingham - who were excellent) as it was my first car at this level and wanted the peace of mind of the year’s warranty.
Have had a couple of minor bits sorted under it (nothing mechanical) and there was no fuss whatsoever. Every drive feels very special, would highly recommend.

The S benefits from Matt Becker's touch, is faster, louder, and visually more aggressive but the front end is very low indeed. Some would say it's too much for AM. Personally I think it works, but someone seeking greater refinement may prefer the non-S.
My only criticism of the S, aside from the front end height, is the lack of a quiet start option as the blip it gives on start-up sometimes feels a bit too attention seeking.
I don't think you can go wrong. Just buy the best you can afford. I came close 3 years ago, was about to pull the trigger on a 2018 Vanq S, for a stupid reason (I already had one V12 Aston) I didn't, I bought a second Aston V8 instead. I wish I'd chopped in the DB11, its now too late for me.

I like lightning silver, it has a tint of blue in it and sometimes it looks a lot like Mako which I have.
I have a friend who has a lightning silver Vantage and when parked next to mine you can clearly see the blue tint on his car whereas Mako is more blue with a silver tint. Both show all the nice body curves!

I really love also the Rapide and the convenience of the 4 seats would be a big plus but the Vanquish ...
Beautiful things
One of the most disappointing cars i’ve ever owned, not unreliable and the V12 and gearbox was good, V12 sound (subjective i know) only sounded good 6-7k rpm, sounded poor everywhere else and the ridiculous start up ‘look at me’ was very annoying.
Strangely i didnt mind the dated interior, buttons console i preferred but the os was awful.
I think some cars you gel with and some you dont, the whole james bond thing that many buy into with this car, I really dont get and the car seems to trade off this connection a little too much rather than building a dynamically good car, everything about it vs the competition was lacking, it feels like the car is running about 10 years behind others development, which worked for me with the interior, not the rest though.
Not looking for an argument from the Aston fans, just giving my opinion born from my experience with one of their best cars (apparently) to someone looking to buy, if i’d have had a chance to test it properly, i wouldnt have bought, so maybe give it a good test

Disagree with Aventaors post. I think it depends on your expectations and individual taste. I have owned 83 cars over the years, including several Porsches, Ferrari etc. My 2015 is the best (for me) so far. I cant think of anything I would replace it with unless money were no object.
I would go for the 8 speed as it is notably better than the six speed. I think the S is somewhat over valued but is rarer. Upu can make the non S sound better with a secondary decat and it releases a few more HP's. As has been said already, buy the best you can afford.

+1 on what your expectations are. I regard a Vanquish as a super-GT car, not a sport cars. Although many Aston owners might visibly wince at the comparison, I see a Bentley Continental as a direct Vanquish competitor. Maybe an F12, but I suspect the F12 is more of a sportscar than a GT (and more of a Vanquish S rival), just as the Bentley is much more of a GT, with the Vanquish sitting in between them in terms of use proposition.

I had the original V12 Vanquish when they first came out. A thing of beauty - but a very flawed gearbox in my view. I wouldn't have another.
Funnily enough I also had a Bentley GTC and felt it was a better car in every way other than looks.
I took both to the Med, so had a good feel for which was the better GT. The answer was B not A.
