Vanquish owners?
Discussion
I'm considering buying a Vanquish. I have heard some bad things about the car: the transmission doesn't work well, they aren't reliable, the build quality is suspect, etc. However, I love the look of the car and know better than to accept second hand info as gospel.
Are there any owners here? How do you like the car? I have a lot of experience with the DB9, but not much with the Vanquish.
Also, are there any major differences between the model years (02-04)?
Thanks,
Steve

I have owned a Vanquish for 6 months, a clutch nodule did needed replacing once but apart from that it is the most unbelievable tool.
I bought it from a main dealer and when I picked the car up, I said I suppose you next time will try and sell me a DB9, to which the salesman replied, why would you want to trade down?
Most shmucks say why pay more when you can get a DB9? Well a) the Vanq is an altogether superior driving experience. b) For every one Vanq there are eight DB9s, forgive me but when you pull out big money for a car you don't want to see another one every day.
c) the DB9 is a beautiful car but when you see them side by side, you know which one is the daddy.
I have found the car to be incredible and use it every day. I've had people staring at it in awe, even taking pictures of it. If you can afford it, go for it, it is a life time experience, which is available to very few indeed. By the way it is not a track car, if you want that get a Noble or some other racer, but just think what you would prefer to turn up in at The Dorchester in! I also recommend driving the Vanq at full throttle through a tunnel. The car has a superb stereo but the way the engine sounds I rarely use it.
Stick to a main dealer, a late car with low mileage with AM history and enjoy. Make sure you listen to the dealer at the hand over because it has paddle shifts and don't ride the clutch.

My thoughts entirely lhf!
I've driven both and own a Vanquish, it's a very different drive to the DB9, much more planted on the road and, of course, looks more 'evolved' somehow.
The gearbox is, um, different but most Vanquish owners would not trade down and just love looking at their cars - let alone drive them (which is moderately sublime!).
02-04 model years from memory have some subtle differences - glass starter button on the newer model along with slightly different dash buttons and perhaps an upgraded amplifier. Upgraded because there were some sub-woofer setting issues with the earlier models.
Don't know if this helps.... hope so.
