Speakers on 2013 DB9
Discussion
I am in the process of replacing all the 4” speakers on my DB9 - fronts, rear sides and centre. I have the door cards removed to replace the fronts.
But does anybody know if the rear speaker grilles just pry off? Or do I need to remove the surrounding trim panels first?
Similarly, does the central speaker grille pry off, or do I need to remove the ski slope stack panel first?
Thanks for any help.

Well, I’ve replaced the door and centre speakers now with 4” Alpine S Series coaxials - the centre ski slope popped out very easily with a trim tool. The improvement in sound quality is staggering compared to the paper cone standard component speakers. At low volumes you still get the detail that was absent with the standard speakers, and they remain clean and precise when you crank them up.
Not planning on changing the subwoofer speaker at the moment as that seems pretty good and tight sounding.
Have the same speakers for the rear side panels, but wonder how much they will add. Seems like I need to take out the rear seats to then remove the side panels, so a bit more work involved. But will probably do them to complete the upgrade now I’ve started.

Rear 1/4's aren't too bad to pull out; Remove both sill panels, then remove both seats, base first, undo the 7mm bolts and lift up to remove. If the car is a Volante there is a hidden screw holding the seat back in, this is accessed when the roof is half open. Remove the 7mm bolts at the rear of the 1/4 panel and also the seat belt mountings. The rear of the 1/4 panel should now be loose. The leading edge is held in with a some long fir tree clips, prise away from panel towards the centre of the car.
Hope that helps.

That’s very helpful, thank you. Have just finished fitting them and your guide certainly helped.
The rear speakers don’t contribute much to the overall sound, but much happier knowing that what they are contributing is now the same quality as the fronts.
The systems now sounds incredibly good, particularly when turned up a bit. The openness and detail is excellent. Played with the settings to get a good balance I am happy with for the various types of music I listen to. Very happy with this upgrade that cost less than £200 but delivers a huge upgrade in sound performance.

Are those 4” Alpine speakers a direct swap of the ‘premium’ audio speakers that come stock in the DB9.2 (MY13+)?But does anybody know if the rear speaker grilles just pry off? Or do I need to remove the surrounding trim panels first?

Any other tips or fitting instructions?
Why did you go for the 4” Alpine S Series coaxials in particular? Is there anything even better/higher end that’s as easy?
