My VantageS ss has just left me stranded with a ‘fault no gear change possible’ have called assistance and they’re on their way but any advice that might get it moving to make it safer?

Switch it on and off and try pressing ‘D’?

Three most common causes I've seen are...
-Leak in hydraulic line
-Low pressure in clutch line
-Bad clutch
Sorry to hear it, though. Hope it's easy to sort!

Exactly the same happened to me a couple of years ago, it too was recovered to the dealer and was found to be just a circlip had come free on one of the pressure valves. No damage was done to the gearbox, so i hope its just as simple a fix for you -- did you see any fluid under the car ?

No obvious fluid leak no, here's hoping

I had this issue last week after getting the car back from the bodyshop (it was away for 9 weeks).
In my case it was a new battery required.
When you open the drivers door normally you hear the ASM hydraulic pump powering up, this is required when you start the car to put it into neutral.
On mine the battery power was insufficient and could not get the ASM pump powered up, when I opened the drivers door you could not hear the ASM pump kicking in.

Hi, I had same problem a few months back. turns out it was 30A fuse for hydraulic pump had blown.
Replaced the fuse and everything fine since.

Thanks to all for the feedback, be great if it's something simple like a fuse, perhaps I should have checked before it was recovered.

I ran a recondition cycle on the battery a few weeks ago and it looked fine plus it was used each day last week and drove fine for 14 miles before failure so suspect it's not the battery

Yes, Fuse 8 from memory in the boot Fuse Box (LHS on V8 Roadster), also worth unplugging and plugging back in the relay (I think its the one nearest to Fuse 8) which also controls ASM hydraulic pump.
The fuse box on the Roadster can also be prone to moisture from rear lamp not sealing properly as the fuse box is directly under the rear LHS lamp

Been advised it's ASM pump failure which fortunately is covered by warranty

ASM hydraulic pump is circa £1K + installation at the AM dealer............good news that you have the warranty.
Hope you get back on the road soon and enjoy your Roadster

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but wanted to thank Ray4901 and Manwhoneverwas.

I just had this issue and had visions of significant quantities of wedge exiting my bank account. Quick search online find this thread, checked Fuse 8 and, lo and behold, burnt out.

About 20p later I’m back on the road. Thanks again for posting!

This happened to me yesterday, only came across this thread whilst waiting for RAC to turn up, sure enough my fuse had blown and car was back to normal once it had been replaced. Cancelled RAC and went on my way. Many thanks to all for the info!

I tell you, unscrupulous dealers have a field day with things like this. had a 645 ci BMW with a surging problem, was told it was a $7000 fix by the dealer, i did some research thanks to forums like this and replaced the battery and no more problem. The dealer would have made a tidy profit had I not done some research.

This has just happened to me, V12 vantage S sport shift!

Am currently waiting for the AA. It had been flashing that message up a bit yesterday but didn't seem to affect the ability to change gear at all so I thought it might just be a sensor error or something. Funnily enough I had fuse 8 out today to check if it was blown - looked fine. Pretty sure I put it back properly smile. This time the whole gearbox shuts down and won't get out of neutral.

Am hoping they will tow me to my local Aston dealer then I can ring them tomorrow....
