This months EVO carries a piece on the boys at ES Motorsport who have been recreating the LM version of the Ferrari 550.

Well, with the LM road racer project now done, they are turning to the Vanquish.

They are converting the Vanquish to a 6 speed manual box, by developing their own casting and selector mechanism and mating it to the Vanquish's existing unit ( ditching the electronic flappy paddles in the process). By all accounts a suitable chunky manual shift lever will erupt from the centre consul at just the right place.

Cost of the conversion? £18,000.

Regarding the engine, they are taking the twin turbo installation that is used by Noble for the M12 and fitting TWO sets to the Vanquish. The resulting Quad turbo affair will be mapped with their own software and is good for 700bhp.

Cost of the engine job is £36,000.

Now you could give them a nice used Vanquish and get something back that would be truly awe inspiring for the less than the price of a new Vanquish S !

Yum. Now where can I find £160k going spare...

I started a thread on this earlier but most chat was about the V8.

Strange, a 700bhp, 6 speed manual Aston Vanquish. I thought it was quite a big deal too !

It's a tad expensive (especially as it may limit re-sale).

The 6-speed box should be an official AM option. The quad turbo's? Should be interesting, but the Vanquish isn't exactly slow! When the Vanquish was under development, getting heat out of the engine bay proved difficult. How the 'eck is it going to cope with 4 turbos!!!!

Can't wait to see the finished job though
