Took this corner a little too fast and lost control.
My left rear just caught the grass and I was off.

It's all the people on the VMax reserve list that'll be cursing you...

Glad it wasn't the real one though...

All I could think when I read your post, was

Feck No!!!!! VMaxxxxxxx!!!!!

I suppose these video games could serve a useful purpose if they keep aggressive drivers off the real Ring.

There was a time about a year ago when I spent hours playing Project Gotham Racing 2 on the Xbox, which is a game that has the Nordschleife in it. That was the only racing game I've ever gotten into.

Zip forward about 6 months when I got my first car with some decent pace and I attended a meet. One of the dudes on the meet said that I took some good lines along the roads and was braking at the right points etc. I said thank you but didn't think much of it.

About a month ago I went on my first track day at Coombe, and I surprised myself with my ability to go round the bends and "feel" the car. To balance it on the limit of adhesion and at the same time make the line just clipping the rumble strips, but the whole time confidently "know" that in spite of the abuse on the tyres you *will* make it as you turn into the corner, and to feel the fluency of the bends and the braking through your bones.

Natural talent? I think not - blame it all on the racing game. I'm convinced it has made me a better driver.

They really are so realistic these days. And oh, I now know the 'Ring inside out - well enough to follow videos of drivers on the real thing with full knowledge of what's coming next.

I know driving the actual track will be a different experience, but at the very least I know which way the next corner goes, which on a track as long as the 'Ring is invaluable IMO.

You little tinker.......

I did see a nice Virage on the back of a trailer yesterday, although I think it was more a case of "no longer making progress" than having been stacked.

I have had the week of work and spent most of it playing GT4. It really is the nuts.

Especially as it includes the full Nurburgring circuit for the first time, all 180 someting corners.

Going to see how quick I can peddle a DB9 around it now!
