My brother in law (to be) is interested in a DB7 Vantage V12. We have looked at various used models and would like some comments from owners, or those in the know about the following;

Reliablity ? (used as a second car for pleasure)

Service cost ?

Is it worth taking exetended warranty ?

Are some build years better than other ?

Thanks for your assistance.

Cheers,
Ian.

No problems yet, but only three and a bit months in.

There seem to be a number of independants around who can provide excellent service at lower prices than the main AM dealers. That said, nobody seems to provide fixed price servicing: I'd expect a normal service to be £600-£800, and most owners seem to end up having one a year (unless it will cover very high mileage).

A difficult one: some parts look as though they could be expensive if they were to break - if buying from a dealer a warranty is always a good negotiating point.

I think I'm correct in saying that there were few (if any) design changes through the life of the model. There do appear to have been a number of recalls (or campaigns) for upgrades, so it might be worth checking whether these have been carried out.

More extensive advice and experience is available from the owners club forum at www.amoc.org

Thanks for the feedback Jeremy.

A great choice of cars in your collection, if you don't mind me saying so.

Cheers,
Ian

The major changes were with the 6 cylinder engine- bu thr time the V12 was launched, everythign was pretty much sorted. Look our for the GT- last of the line, and arguably the most desireable.

If youre anywhere in the south, start at chiltern aston: www.chilternaston.co.uk/

I have never heard a bad word said against these guys, and they have some lovely stock. Do some nifty upgrades, as well
