I think I will need to replace the entire aircon system on my car, and I may overhaul the heating at the same time. Any comments, observations or recommendations ? The Borg Warner unit has overheated and blown a chunk of metal out of the casing, so I think its fair to say its dead.... but I gather new aircon systems legally have to be to modern standards because the old gas is illegal now anyway...

I’d try Puddleduck to see if they’ve any second hand units in first of all www.puddleduck.uk.com/
If not have a wander through your yellow pages and see if there’s a specialist auto air-con technician in your area. All the V8 air-con bits were also fitted to other cars and can usually be sourced a lot cheaper than via an AM main dealer. You should be able to have the existing system re-gassed with stuff that meets the new regs, mine has the old CoolAir system and that’s been regassed and is working fine.
