More spy shots of Aston's 911-killer
Aston's new baby makes more public appearances.
More spy shots have emerged of Aston's forthcoming 911-killer, unofficially dubbed the DB8 or DB5. Four hundred and ten horsepower are expected to surge from the car's 4.3-litre supercharged V8.
The car is due out next year.
Spy shots are here: www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?article=7727

Was at Aston last week. The AMV8 is unlikely to appear before late 2006 apparently.
They were starting work on some of the construction jigs as we got a tour of the factory.
Interesting. I would have thought that with a car already being tested around the 'ring that jigs would have already been made up and just awaiting fine adjustments.
Then again my car manufacturing knowledge is limited to Airfix.

Er this could be news to Shady who is expecting one significantly before then.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's that late. They don't want the [louvoice] 'carfuffle' [/louvoice] that they had with the DB9 delays.
I think the dealers are putting an earlier spin on it to keep interest in orders.

It'll be interesting to see what the price is finally set at. I can't see this car coming in at under £70K.
imo I think it will be nearer 80 to 85k after all the bells and whistles.
If that's the case, then it's hardly a 911 killer. That's Turbo territory!
I think it looks fab, just one thing that always concerns me. While it may have 410bhp, what's going to be more important is what it weighs. 410BHP in a car that weighs 1500+KG is going to be a bit stodgy, which is where everyone seems to be going wrong these days. I would really love to see manufacturers saying here's our new GT that only weighs 1000KG (or less...) because then it doesn't matter a toss how much bhp it's got. (of course, providing it's 250bhp+...)
Agree 100%. Realistically, somewhere in the 1.300 -1.400 kg range would be OK for this car.
There's a whole lot to love and admire in Astons - except their weight and bulk. I always thought a more compact AM at 2/3rds the weight with power levels commensurate with that, would be A Very Fine Thing. I surely hope they don't scr*w it up with the AMV8.
The alternative, of course, would be a properly engineered and built TVR (to me at least)....

I think its unlikely that it will be anything other than lardy as they are luxury cars and toys add weight. would love to see a ltd edition of light weight race replica style though.
Has any one else noticed that all astons look the same, the look is good but i just want to se something that looks like they didnt just copy their last effort.
