The next Vanquish
Discussion
A small piece in this weeks Autocar tells what Dr Ulrich Bez is considering for the next Vanquish (not due before 2008).
The options:
1 - A more extreme version of the current Vanquish
2 - Stretch the wheelbase and make it more of a Ferrari 612 competitor.
Personally, I hope they go for option 1. Keep it a 2+2 or 2+0, more power (600bhp would be good ), and push the styling boundary a little to move on from the current V8 Vantage/DB9 look. Nothing too radical, mind. An Aston doesn't need to look OTT and should remain beautiful and refined, albeit very modern. If they want a true four seater, I'd rather they bring back a Lagonda. Some sort of swoopy four door coupe (rather like the new Merc CLS), as opposed to a big saloon.
As it'd be at the top of the Aston tree, I'd really like to see the finest materials and build in the cockpit. Keep the modern style of the DB9, but ensure the quality is up there with Bentley (despite the massive leap over the DB7, I read some of the materials are still not quite up to scratch - NO PLASTIC from now on please!).
I guess I'm looking for something between the current Vanquish and a McMerc SLR.
Anyway, just in case Dr Bez (or his collegues) should be on this forum, what would you like to see the Vanquish become?

I heard the first AMV8s will be manuals?
Does anyone know when the automatic gearbox from DB9 will be available for the AMV8? Thanks before guys
Where did you hear that? At the factory in August they were very tight lipped about the gearbox on the AM V8, not saying it was anyhting...
