Folks,
having a little problem with some warranty work.....
My car was collected on Tuesday to sort out a snagging list of items that needed attention... I get an email this morning (not seen until after lunch) stating that they want to draw my attention to damage found on the leather surround to the centre console before they start work on diagnosing a rattle from that area... I queried this saying as far as I'm concerned it was not damaged and asked them to send a picture... So do you think the attached picture show damage consistent with removal of the fascia??

I would politely reply thanking them for the photo, noting the very fresh appearance to the damaged area, repeat that you are certain that the car was undamaged when left with them and suggest that they reconsider whether just possibly the damage occurred during some preliminary work and that there had been a miscommunication.
If that doesn't work you know what you are dealing with,

Thanks folks ... Your opinions mirror my own.
I have what I believe is an ace in the hole. I had the collecting driver sign a collection note stating among other things that : 'the leather surround to the piano black fascia is unmarked' . Two copies one of which I retained.
I've had the car for 4 weeks. Had there been an issue, believe me I would have spotted it!!!
Hopefully there will be a positive outcome.

love to see the service managers face when he/she sees that note For what its worth, the marks are obviously where somebody has attempted to remove the panel. In my opinion of course I have what I believe is an ace in the hole. Best of luck with it.
Unless you have the chunkiest fingers on your left hand, adorned by several gold sovereign rings which are rubbing against the material whilst fiddling with your knob....then I cannot quite see how else this damage could have been achieved without a modicum of leverage.
Plus it is in quite a visible section, so surely you would have noticed it previously
