I am contemplating putting the above on the front/sides of my V12V before the inevitable chips and damage start. I have been offered the partial or full front kit - full front includes bumper, wing mirrors and then full bonnet and full wings obviously partial is just what is says for the bonnet and wings. Paintshield now have a "self-healing" film but they have no installers in the area (Leeds/York) and so would have to find a way to Peterborough.

Now does anyone have any experience of this film (good or bad) or views on whether a full or partial kit would be best. My personal view is that a full piece must look better than partial as you won't have any lines across. Not suprisingly the full kit is double the cost of the partial kit.

Anyone know a good installer of a similar product in the North East?

Thanks.

Hi I can't help you with an installer although Stratstone will have contacts. I can recommend the full kit, IMO it is money well spent.

The Venture shield kit is different.
Full kit is front lip, front bumper, lights, leading edge of wings & bonnet (or full bonnet as I did), back of mirrors, door handles, entire sills, front of rear arches up to swage line (unlike the factroy stuff, top of rear bumper where boot meets it, bottom or rear splitter.

They are all "self healing" to a point as the plastic is quiet elastic, I know from having a pop bottle bounce up my bonnet at speed with out a mark wink

Make sure you prep the paint work properly before doing it or you will just seal the crap in.

id go full kit and make sure its detailed/de-swirled first ...otherwise like MIkey says, you are sealing in all the imperfections from new

well worth the money though when done properly

Can't speak for the new film, but I am a supporter of Paintshield in Peterborough. They have now done 2 cars for me and I have been very happy. They certainly get a recoomend from me on the friendliness, helpful attitude and the quality of what they do. It is not the cheapest but I would still say I get what I pay for.

No connection other than being a satisfied customer.

Thanks - looks like it will be the full kit then but need to look at Ventureshield before committing to trip to Peterborough although it looks like they don't have a presence in the region either.

The car has been fully detailed including paint correction by the legendary G from Elite so all ready for some film to be applied.

What is the range for what this costs roughly?

Sorry to say I am the other camp. Paintshield did 3 of my cars the later two were poor. My last two cars have used Venture Shied with no issues.

what the paint shield or a full detail ? I would say you can get a paint correction detail for 300 depending on where you are in the country

For £300, in most cases, you would get an enhancement detail, to remove lighter swirls and restore gloss. To remove all the defects (that can be safely removed, you're talking 2-3 days and will be more in the. Region of £600.

I think a full film kit is around the grand mark.

Thanks. I remember being quoted 1,700 by a Ferrari dealer so quite interesting to compare.

To be fair, it all depends on how much you have covered, what type of film and who does it etc. And of course, how much the dealer takes out of it.

Best thing to do is ring around and of course, get the paint sorted before its applied.

I had full front protection applied by Paintshield. I live in the North East and had to take the car down to Peterborough to get it applied. It's well worth it for peace of mind. Tom, the owner is from Newcastle and interestingly they had done the paint protection film on my TVR at the dealers in Hexham. On my Quantum Silver V8 you can see that there is film on the car in the right light at certain angles. I suppose some purists won't like that but I reckon it's a lesser evil than having the front end pock marked and unless you look carefully you wouldn't notice it. I don't regret having had it done but do wonder if the finish is quite as good as it could have been. I'll have to drop in and get them to look at it next time I'm passing Peterborough. Or better still get someone independent to have a look.

My DB9 done by Paintshield looks orange peel in certain lights. The mirror backs never stayed on correctly and eventually I had them taken off. Now after 4 years I have dirt under the film edge on one of the sill pieces. I am thinking of taking it of and starting again but t least my paint is perfect so in that respect it's done it's job. The Venture Shield on my other car however still looks clear and no orange peel affect - yet!
