Hi folks,

I wrote last week about my car revving / sticky throttle, I've sprayed some cleaner on the outside of the throttle bodies (after removing the air intake pipe) and removed a small amount of build up, do I need to do the same inside behind the metal flap too - and if so how have you done this?

Any advice appreciated as ever!

Thanks

Kris

Hi Kris,

I have done some digging into web archives of the DMS website and found the following that might help you. It is supposed to accompanied by pictures and the video but unfortunately those aren't cached. Here's what I can glean:

From web archive of DMS website said:
The throttle flap on an Aston Martin V8 Vantage over a period of time can build up a sticky oily residue, this can cause issues with low rev throttle response, This is easily rectified and only takes about 10 minutes, what you need is a medium sized flat bladed screwdriver, this process is more clearly shown in the video tutorial down the page

[missing picture]

next pull the black pipe off so that you can see the throttle flap, wearing goggles, spray the metal flap, also opening the flap with your fingers so that the edges and intake area is properly cleaned, the excess cleaner will just evaporate away, and as this is flammable the usual precautions should be followed, then just refit the pipe and clip, using he pipe grips to make sure it is fastened correctly,

[missing picture]

lastly it is worth just removing and refitting the electrical connector fitted to the housing care must be taken so as not to damage the connector
Don't know if this will help but maybe you'll be able to fill in the blanks when you're actually doing the job.

Thank you! That fills in the blanks about "what to do" - really appreciate that.

I'd just sprayed the outside of the flap.

An example of what makes this forum great clap

Many Thanks

Hi Gareth, yes and I need to take a couple of pics again as they haven't come out - needless to say it's simple, or I couldn't have done it. It hasn't fixed the issue - but I'll start another thread about that!
