I saw a black Aston Martin this afternoon in South Cambs with just 007 on the index, now I guess it could have been DD7, but does anyone know if it was genuine at all?
I guess if was OO7 (Oscar Oscar 7)or DD7 then it would have been a few quid to obtain?.
Looked nice though.

I wouldn't put a 007 plate on my car cos I'm not so into James Bond but having *just* 007 is pretty awesome. To all the 007 plate haters - get over it! it's just a bit of fun! biggrin

As an aside, if you genuinely love the brand then why not just support the damned Bond association!! It's ultimately free brand association for Aston, and being associated with British MI6 Royalty (albeit fictitious) has been one of the best (marketing) things that ever happened to Aston. You'll cut your noses off to spite your face you lot!

I'm sorry but it just reminds me so much of when I was sitting outside a local pub a while back and this guy pulled in driving a basic XK stereo blaring the Bond theme. ( think I posted on here at the time)

It made me cringe. Not as much as he did when I pulled out 15mins later in my V8V, roof down, and gave him a knowing wink.

Seriously I can't think of anything more likely to attract derision than an Aston owner displaying Bond references.

Just not the done thing 'old chap'

I don't think "zero zero seven" is a legit plate but "Oscar Oscar seven" is. I'll do a hpi check tomorrow and report back!

By index number I guess you mean the reg plates?

007 plates on an Aston are just wrong imo. What's worse is the fact that the vast majority of them are on models that James Bond hasn't driven in the films.

I'm very into James Bond movies, books and folklore but there's no chance I would have a 007 number plate!

Hater? No, but mocker... Yes wink

The reason I have a green ragtop is its as non-Bond as possible for an Aston smile

Hey Di. Someone pulling up in a Jag and blaring the bond theme is just plain retarded. It's a far cry from having a cheeky 007 plate IMHO. Don't get me wrong - it isn't my thing - but it almost feels like the prerequisite to being an Aston driver is that you have to be dull, old and without a sense of humour. That's probably taking it a tad far but (and sorry to say it) this forum has got be the most 'particular' car forum I've ever been on. Having owned Porsches and Ferarris, this is a very different experience. When I bought my £130k F430 a few yrs ago, I put some cheap furry dice in it - it was considered funny for a while. I'm not so sure this would be the case in the company of astoneers.

I remember you posting about that - classic. I of course only drive mine with a tux on. Just wouldn't do otherwise.

Hey Slarti

Having been on PH for many many years, I can truly say this is the forum Ive found where you get fantastic technical advice along with massive newbie help (I know Ive been there) as well as some of the funniest threads going. There is great camaraderie, true, fools other than Jockman and George (kidding) aren't suffered and dealt with accordingly. By and large, there is little or no stuffiness and the meets I have arranged or attended have been the friendliest I have encountered.
Don't mix having a dry sense of humour with stuffiness.
For me it is also very nice to be accepted as an equal rather than pushed aside as a lady owner. Cant tell you how nervous I was when I had issues with driving my V8V. Everyone was really supportive.
Violins and hankies all round, sniff.
Give us a chance.
Believe me this is a great forum.

Ok, Im known to over react sometimes(!). I can tell there's some great people on here and I certainly see that the members are keen to help. You're right, I need to calm down and be less judgemental!

Spot on! 007 and Aston Martin are closely linked and quite rightly too!
A 007 plate IS cool! Apart from half a dozen people on here who object, Ive only ever had positive comments from people.
